Published: January 1999

The level of IgG1 in blood in cows of different ages before calving is decreased. At antigens stimulation the content of the IgG1 increases in about twice at the expense of specific antibodies connected with antigens which are and transferred into colostrum. The maximum antibodies (IgG1) level is marked in colostrum of mature cows (2-7 lactations) and it reaches of 82.8 mg/ml and the minimum level in the first-born calves-51.6 mg/ml. Correspondingly the calves from the first-born cows assimilated 28-36% less immunoglobulins than the calves of the same ages from the cows of older ages.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and molecular characteristics of infections in sheep and goats in Anhui Province in 2020, so as to provide insights into ovine anaplasmosis prevention and control.

Methods: A total of 355 fresh blood samples were collected from 7 sheep and goat farms in Linquan County of Fuyang City, Lixin County of Bozhou City, Yu'an District of Lu'an City, Wangjiang County of Anqing City, Nanling County of Wuhu City, and Tianchang City and Fengyang County of Chuzhou City in Anhui Province from June to December 2020. and 16S ribosomal RNA () gene, major surface protein 4 () gene and citric acid synthase () gene were amplified using PCR assay in all blood samples, and the prevalence of , , and infections was calculated in sheep and goats.

Article Synopsis
  • Human milk (HBM) and bovine milk (PBM) are both sources of nutrition that involve lactose, which can be fermented by the bacteria Streptococcus mutans, potentially affecting dental health.
  • This study compares how S. mutans forms biofilms, produces acid, and buffers in HBM, plain and sweetened PBM, and infant formula (IF) through various microbiological assays.
  • Results indicated that sweetened bovine milk had the highest biofilm formation and lowest pH, while both HBM and PBM showed low cariogenicity, differing from the effects of sucrose.

The Prevalence of Gastric Ulcer Syndrome in 395 Horses in Jiangyin City, China, Jiangsu Province.

Animals (Basel)

December 2024

Key Laboratory of New Animal Drug Project of Gansu Province, Key Laboratory of Veterinary Pharmaceutical Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Lanzhou Institute of Husbandry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Lanzhou 730050, China.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and association of EGUS in horses of different ages, breeds and occupations. Gastroscopies were performed on 395 horses, and gastric ulcers were graded on a scoring system from 0 to 4. The relationship between age, breed, and work, along with the prevalence of gastric ulcers and their influences, were evaluated.

Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in cattle significantly impacts the economy due to relatively high morbidity and mortality and decreased production. Its multifactorial nature drives its global persistence, involving enteric viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and environmental factors. Bovine (BoRVA) and bovine coronavirus (BCoV) are among the most important enteric RNA viruses causing AGE in cattle.
