AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to see if respiratory system compliance and lung resistance could predict chronic lung disease (CLD) in preterm infants.
  • Researchers analyzed 48 preterm infants under 1500 g who required ventilation, measuring pulmonary mechanics at specific days of life.
  • Results showed that infants who didn't develop CLD had higher dynamic compliance values from day 5, and lung resistance values differed significantly between groups starting from day 7, suggesting Crsdyn is a useful predictor for CLD.

Article Abstract

Background: The objective of this study was to determine if the value of respiratory system compliance and lung resistance could be a good predictor of chronic lung disease (CLD) in an early stage of this disease.

Methods: The study was carried out on 48 preterms infant (BW < 1500 g) who were ventilated for respiratory distress, calculating pulmonary mechanics at 3, 5, 7 and 10 days of life with a standardized protocol of measurements.

Results: Infants who did not develop CLD showed higher values of respiratory system dynamic compliance (Crsdyn) than the CLD group since the 5th day of life (p < 0.001). The values of lung resistance show a statistical significant difference between groups since the 7th day of life.

Conclusions: These findings indicate that, with a well standardized method of measurements, the value of Crsdyn can well be a good predictor and a sensible prognostic factors for CLD.

Cardiac implantable electronic devices infections (CIEDI) are associated with poor survival despite the improvement in transvenous lead extraction (TLE). Aetiology and systemic involvement are driving factors of clinical outcomes. The aim of this study was to explore their contribute on overall mortality.

Background: Although psychological interventions can be effective for the treatment of major depressive disorder, some patients' symptoms persist or rapidly recur after therapy. This study aimed to synthesize research findings on predictors and moderators of treatment response for persisting forms of depression, such as chronic, recurrent, and treatment-resistant depression.

Methods: A systematic review of studies investigating predictors and moderators of response to outpatient psychological treatment for adults with persisting forms of depression was conducted by searching Web of Science, Scopus, and PsycInfo.

Objectives: To investigate the function of the glymphatic system (GS) and its association with neuropsychological tests in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) by diffusion tensor imaging analysis along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS).

Methods: This retrospective study included 58 patients with sICH and 63 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs). Partial correlation analyses were performed to examine the relationships between the DTI-ALPS index and radiological as well as clinical data.

Background: This study aims to synthesise recent findings on the outcomes of common femoral endarterectomy (CFE) with profundoplasty, evaluating the efficacy, complications, and predictors of long-term success in patients undergoing this procedure.

Patients And Methods: This is a descriptive retrospective study assessing the outcomes of CFE with profundoplasty. All patients with chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI) who attended and underwent CFE with profundoplasty with or without iliac intervention at Glan Clwyd Hospital (Wales, United Kingdom) were studied.
