The various chromatographic methods suitable for the separation and quantitative determination of phenoxyalkyl acid herbicides in environmental samples are reviewed, with special emphasis being placed on sample preparation methods such as liquid-liquid, solid-phase and supercritical fluid extractions. Techniques are classified (high-performance liquid chromatography, gas-liquid chromatography, capillary zone electrophoresis, micellar electrokinetic chromatography) and discussed separately. The advantages and disadvantages of the various preparation and separation methods and their combinations are evaluated.

Vinylene-linked Covalent Organic Frameworks (V-2D-COFs) are a class of promising porous organic materials that feature fully π-conjugated structures, high crystallinity, ultrahigh chemical stability, and extraordinary optoelectronic properties. However, the types of reactions and the availability of monomers for synthesizing linked COFs are considerably limited by the irreversibility of the C═C bond, and the complete π-conjugated structure restricts their in-depth research in hydrophilicity, membrane materials, and proton conductivity. Postsynthetic modification (PSM), which can avoid these problems by incorporating functional moieties into the predetermined framework, provides an alternative way to construct diverse V-2D-COFs.

Background: Tavaborole (TAV), a benzoxaborole derivative, is an FDA-approved antifungal agent for treating onychomycosis, a common and persistent fungal infection of the toenails.
Objective: This study aimed to develop a robust stability-indicating HPTLC method to determine TAV in nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) using a comprehensive approach that includes risk assessment, and Analytical Quality by Design.
Methods: The critical method parameters influencing the HPTLC results were screened using a Placket-Burman screening design followed by its optimization using a central composite optimization design.

Method: We designed a statistical physics approach that exploits freely available but massive evolutionary and phylogenetic coupling data on sequence variation and speciation. These couplings lead to quantifiable values for the selection pressure exerted on the genes within a population.

Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) are two age related neurodegenerative diseases that share multiple characteristics, including deposition of amyloid beta. In AD, amyloid plaque accumulation contributes to neurological dysfunction, while in AMD amyloid is a component of the hallmark retinal drusen complexes that lead to degeneration of central vision. Both diseases have significant and opposite risk due to the APOE e4 and e2 alleles.

Background: Hippocampal neuronal loss (HNL), LATE neuropathologic changes (LATE-NC), and Alzheimer's disease (AD) are common neuropathological findings in older persons. However, the inter-relationship between AD, LATE-NC, HNL, and cognition is not well understood.
Method: Participants without known dementia (n = 420; mean age-at-death = 92 years, women = 72%) enrolled, in the Rush community-based cohorts and underwent annual cognitive testing and autopsy.
