The impact of transport vibration on the mutagenic effect (ME) of asbestos, benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), benzene, ortho-aminotoluene, and quinoline was studied. There was a decrease in ME of all the substances when they influenced erythrocytes simultaneously with 24-hour vibration. Decreased ME of BaP was seen during 2-month vibration, and ME increased during 3-day vibration.

Superhydrophobic surfaces have attracted tremendous attention due to their intriguing lotus-leaf-like water-repelling phenomenon and wide applications, however, most superhydrophobic coatings are prepared with environmentally unfriendly organic solvents and suffer from poor mechanical strength. To solve these issues, waterborne recoatable superhydrophobic (WRSH) coatings are developed based on a novel self-synthesized water-soluble fluorinated acrylic polymer and hydrophobic modified silica nanoparticles. The trade-off between waterborne and superhydrophobicity is well mediated by protonation and deprotonation of the fluorinated acrylic polymer.

Coal mines generate significant amounts of dust during production, transportation, and stockpiling, leading to health hazards and environmental pollution. To address the inefficiencies and environmental impact of current chemical dust suppressants, a novel dust suppressant was developed utilizing cellulose derived from Napier grass (NG), modified through carboxymethylation, and supplemented with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyacrylamide (PAM). Orthogonal experiments identified the optimal ratio of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), PAM, PVA, and octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether (JFC-1) as 1:0.

Background: Coccidioidomycosis, caused by inhalation of spp. spores, is an emerging infectious disease that is increasing in incidence throughout the southwestern US. The pathogen is soil-dwelling, and spore dispersal and human exposure are thought to co-occur with airborne mineral dust exposures, yet fundamental exposure-response relationships have not been conclusively estimated.

Objectives: The study evaluated the impact of lifestyle and environmental exposure on the etiology of multiple myeloma (MM).
Methods: A multicenter case-control study was conducted in 20 hematology centers and in 5 outpatient clinics in Poland. The questionnaire on exposure to potential risk factors including sociodemographic data, lifestyle, and environmental factors was completed.

The aim of the presented research was to evaluate the impacts of modifications to the technical properties of fly ash-based geopolymer composites, particularly focusing on enhancing the thermal insulation. Through the utilization of a generalized utility function, optimal dosages of additives such as perlite sand, waste perlite powder, and cenospheres were determined. The study aimed to increase the thermal insulation of the composites while maintaining satisfactory compressive and flexural strength.
