Thermodilution cardiac output (CO) measurement requires heart catheterization and is known as a risk factor. The existing cannula in the radial artery in intensive care unit (ICU) patients can be used to measure CO by ultrasound dilution (COus). An arteriovenous shunt between the radial artery and cubital vein was created using a 25 cm tubing loop. An ultrasound flow dilution sensor was clamped on the tubing and connected to a modified HD01 monitor (Transonic Systems, Inc., Ithaca, NY). Calibration injections of 1 ml 0.9% NaCl were injected into the tubing. An intravenous bolus injection consisted of 10-20 ml 0.9% NaCl. Simultaneously, CO was measured by thermal dilution (COth; MI 166A, Hewlett Packard, Andover, MA). Each value for COth or COus was based on the average of three to five injections. Blood flow through the shunt was 10 to 26 ml/min. The comparison was made on 14 patients. In 33 measurements, the regression equation was COth = -0.08 + 1.02 COus (r = 0.97). In 22 cases, the difference between COth and COus was less than 5%, in 9 cases it was in the range of 5-10%, and in 2 cases it was in the range of 10-20%. The presence of arterial and venous lines in an ICU setting obviates the need for cardiac catheterization for the determination of CO.

Introduction: While people with diabetes (PWD)'s experiences with their insulin delivery systems (IDS) are frequently reported in clinical trials, few real-world data exist on the subject. This study aimed to assess the real-world experience and satisfaction with IDS in PWD.
Methods: This cross-sectional survey of PWD treated with tubed or tubeless insulin pumps, hybrid closed loop (HCL) systems, or multiple daily injections (MDI) for at least 3 months ran from 4 to 16 May 2023.

Endoscopic or fluoroscopic guided naso-enteric placement for stenting and decompression has been used in mechanical enteric limb obstruction after gastrectomy or gastric bypass surgery. However, the use of double naso-enteric tube for treatment of multiple enteric limbs obstruction has not been described to date. We present a 61-year-old female with afferent limb syndrome with concomitant efferent limb obstruction which caused by kinking of anastomosis after loop gastrojejunostomy for benign gastric outlet obstruction.

carbapenemase (KPC) variants selected during ceftazidime/avibactam treatment usually develop susceptibility to carbapenems and carbapenem/β-lactamase inhibitors, such as imipenem and imipenem/relebactam. We analyzed imipenem and imipenem/relebactam single-step mutant frequencies, resistance development trajectories and differentially selected resistance mechanisms using two representative isolates that had developed ceftazidime/avibactam resistance during therapy (ST512/KPC-31 and ST258/KPC-35). Mutant frequencies and mutant prevention concentrations were measured in Mueller-Hinton agar plates containing incremental concentrations of imipenem or imipenem/relebactam.

Self-assembly into tubular structures typically proceeds by helical winding of ribbon intermediates, however, only the central parts of the tubes, that retain no information on the ribbon geometry, have received attention so far. We propose the procedure of establishing the crystal structure of ribbons and ribbon-based tubes on the basis of crystallographic analysis of the tube-end geometry, where the terminal parts of the ribbons fold and form characteristic mono/bilayer polygonal shapes. The terminal parts of flattened J-aggregate nanotubes of trimethine cyanine dye were clearly resolved in electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy images, and the original parallelogram shape of ribbons was reconstructed and interpreted as a two-dimensional [1-10]/[010] facetted crystal with inclined molecular π-stacks parallel to the long ribbon side.
