Enterococcus hirae, member of the Enterococcus genus known to cause infection in animals, is rarely encountered in clinical practice. There are no published reports describing clinical features of Enterococcus hirae infection in humans. A case of Enterococcus hirae septicemia in a 49-year-old patient with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis is reported here. A review of the available literature regarding the clinical spectrum of Enterococcus hirae infection in humans and the antimicrobial susceptibility of Enterococcus hirae is also included.

Background: Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is characterized by hypogammaglobulinemia and recurrent infections. Significant morbidity and mortality are caused by immune dysregulation complications (CVIDid), which affect around one-third of CVID patients and have a poorly understood etiology. Here, we investigate the hypothesis that gut microbial dysbiosis contributes to the inflammation underlying CVIDid.

, a rare human pathogen, has limited clinical data. This case report presents a case of sepsis, pyelonephritis, and septic spondylitis treated successfully with ampicillin. An 82-year-old woman was hospitalized for acute pyelonephritis and sepsis, presenting with fever and abdominal pain.

In recent years, reports of infections in humans have increased. Similarly to most known Enterococci, has been identified mostly in bacteremia, urinary tract infections, infective endocarditis, and biliary tract infections. We present a case of bacteriemia associated with traumatic soft tissue infection in a 77-year-old male patient, a polytrauma victim with a tibia-fibula open fracture after a forklift accident.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the fermentation of sea cucumber intestine polysaccharides using GS22 to enhance extraction and biological properties.
  • GS22 fermentation improved extraction yield from 0.48% to 0.63%, decreased molecular weight, and altered monosaccharide composition.
  • Fermented polysaccharides (SC-PF) demonstrated superior antioxidant and enzyme inhibition abilities compared to non-fermented polysaccharides (SC-P), indicating better prebiotic potential.

Antibiotic therapy has been the most popular line of treatment for the control of mastitis worldwide during the last few decades. Alternative and sustainable treatments must be developed because pathogens are becoming more resistant to antibiotics, leading to the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The aim of the current investigation was to isolate lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with probiotic potential that can inhibit mastitis-causing pathogens to prevent bovine mastitis.
