A simplified method has been developed for performing radionuclide venography. The method makes use of the scintillation camera and a synchronized whole-body scanning bed. This technique permits a more integrated presentation of the data and is performed in conjunction with a standard ventilation-perfusion lung study. The total amount of 99mTc tracer injected is 2 mCi.

Most cases of superior vena cava syndrome are easily diagnosed bya clinical examination alone, but several diagnostic tests and procedures can be helpful. When a patient presentswith a suspected diagnosis of superior vena cava syndrome, the first step is to obtain an imaging study that confirms the diagnosis and aids treatment decisions. Magnetic resonance imaging, contrast-enhanced CT scanning, radionuclide flow studies and traditional venography are all appropriate techniques.

ACR Appropriateness Criteria® Suspected Upper Extremity Deep Vein Thrombosis.

J Am Coll Radiol

May 2020

Specialty Chair, UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, Massachusetts.

This publication includes the appropriate imaging modalities to assess suspected deep vein thrombosis in the upper extremities. Ultrasound duplex Doppler is the most appropriate imaging modality to assess upper-extremity deep vein thrombosis. It is a noninvasive test, which can be performed at the bedside and used for serial evaluations.

Aims: To test in a double-blinded, randomized trial whether the combination of electrically guided left ventricular (LV) lead placement and post-implant interventricular pacing delay (VVd) optimization results in superior increase in LV ejection fraction (LVEF) in cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) recipients.

Methods And Results: Stratified according to presence of ischaemic heart disease, 122 patients were randomized 1:1 to LV lead placement targeted towards the latest electrically activated segment identified by systematic mapping of the coronary sinus tributaries during CRT implantation combined with post-implant VVd optimization (intervention group) or imaging-guided LV lead implantation by cardiac computed tomography venography, 82Rubidium myocardial perfusion imaging and speckle tracking echocardiography targeting the LV lead towards the latest mechanically activated non-scarred myocardial segment (control group). Follow-up was 6 months.

Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics and risk factors of patients with confirmed venous thromboembolism (VTE) in order to improve recognition of VTE, and reduce the rate of missed diagnosis and wrong diagnosis.

Methods: A retrospectively review was performed for 205 patients diagnosed with VTE confirmed by CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA), radionuclide pulmonary ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) imaging, lower extremity deep vein ultrasound or venography in the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College from January 2009 to December 2018. The clinical manifestations, laboratory examination results, imaging results, treatment and prognosis of patients diagnosed with VTE were analyzed.
