Background: Joint arthroplasty effectively treats osteoarthritis, providing pain relief and improving function, but postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) remains a common complication. This study therefore assessed the effectiveness and safety of aspirin compared with oral anticoagulants (OACs) for VTE prophylaxis after joint arthroplasty.
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed by searching PubMed, Embase, the Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) up to May 14, 2024, that compared the effect of aspirin versus OACs on VTE prophylaxis in adults undergoing joint arthroplasty.

Background: Adherence to post-polypectomy surveillance is poor despite evidence that it is associated with lower risk of future colorectal cancer.
Methods: We evaluated 6,210 bowel screening participants between 2009-2016 in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to assess potential barriers to post-polypectomy surveillance.
Results: Increasing deprivation (Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation quintile 1 vs 5; OR 1.

Objective: Postpartum hypertension accounts for 15 to 20% of postpartum Emergency Department (ED) visits and readmissions in the United States. Postpartum readmission is a quality metric and target of quality improvement as it indicates poor control of hypertension and can portend increased morbidity. We aim to evaluate risk factors for postpartum ED visits and readmissions for hypertension.

Src homology-2-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 2 (SHP2) plays a dual role in cancer initiation and progression. Identifying signals that modulate the function of SHP2 can improve current therapeutic approaches for IFN-α/β in HCC. We showed that cAMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) suppresses IFN-α/β-induced JAK/STAT signaling by increasing the phosphatase activity of SHP2, promoting the dissociation of SHP2 from the receptor for activated C-kinase 1 (RACK1) and binding to STAT1.
