[Anesthesia in early surgery and endovascular therapy for aneurysmic subarachnoid hemorrhage].

Minerva Anestesiol

Published: April 1998

Early surgery after SAH is frequently performed. The most important problems for anesthesiologists are the risk of rebleeding, the alteration of autoregulation and CO2 responsiveness, cardiac, respiratory and electrolytic alterations. In this phase the brain may be ischemic-edematous or haemorrhagic-compressive and the choice of anesthetic agent is made on the basis of cerebral conditions. The main goal is to control ICP and maintain adequate CPP. The endovascular treatment with Guglielmi detachable coils is usually performed in patients with poor neurologic and/or medical conditions. General anaesthesia under aggressive monitoring is advisable to control systemic pressure and to avoid movements.

Masquelet technique combined with concentrated growth factors for the reconstruction of rabbit mandibular marginal bone defect.

Clin Oral Investig

January 2025

Fujian Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases & Stomatological Key lab of Fujian College and University, School and Hospital of Stomatology, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, Fujian Province, 350002, China.

Objective: Both the Masquelet technique (MT) and concentrated growth factors (CGF) reduce early graft loss and improve bone regeneration. This study aims to explore the efficacy of combining MT with CGF for mandibular defect repair by characterizing the induced membrane and assessing in vivo osteogenesis.

Materials And Methods: Three experimental groups were compared: negative control (NC), MT, and Masquelet combined with CGF (MTC).

Introduction: Manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) is a standard and effective treatment to correct stiffness and improve range of motion (ROM) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Delayed MUA has been associated with increased rates of revision surgeries and infections. Early MUA has been shown to double the mean gain in flexion compared to delayed interventions.

Background: Both laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) and robotic hepatectomy (RH) have been performed for tumors in nearly all liver segments. However, few studies have compared the outcomes of patients who underwent open hepatectomy (OH), LH and RH for the treatment of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage 0-A HCC in S7/8.

Methods: The clinical data of patients who underwent S7/8 resection for the treatment of BCLC stage 0-A HCC in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from July 2017 to July 2023 were retrospectively collected.

A de novo, mosaic and complex chromosome 21 rearrangement causes APP triplication and familial autosomal dominant early onset Alzheimer disease.

Sci Rep

Division for Neurogeriatrics, Centre for Alzheimer Research, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.

Copy number variation (CNV) of the amyloid-β precursor protein gene (APP) is a known cause of autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease (ADAD), but de novo genetic variants causing ADAD are rare. We report a mother and daughter with neuropathologically confirmed definite Alzheimer disease (AD) and extensive cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). Copy number analysis identified an increased number of APP copies and genome sequencing (GS) revealed the underlying complex genomic rearrangement (CGR) including a triplication of APP with two unique breakpoint junctions (BPJs).

Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) improves survival for prolonged cardiac arrest (CA) but carries significant risks and costs due to ECMO. Previous predictive models have been complex, incorporating both clinical data and parameters obtained after CPR or ECMO initiation. This study aims to compare a simpler clinical-only model with a model that includes both clinical and pre-ECMO laboratory parameters, to refine patient selection and improve ECPR outcomes.
