Two cases of cancer with secondary metastases to the iris were examined. In the first case, the work-up performed after appearance of the iris lesion led to the discovery of a general spread from the already known and treated primary tumor which was an oat cell carcinoma of the lung.

The treatment landscape for advanced melanoma has transformed significantly with the advent of BRAF and MEK inhibitors (BRAF/MEKi) targeting V600 mutations, as well as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) like anti-PD-1 monotherapy or its combinations with anti-CTLA-4 or anti-LAG-3. Despite that, many patients still do not benefit from these treatments at all or develop resistance mechanisms. Therefore, prognostic and predictive biomarkers are needed to identify patients who should switch or escalate their treatment strategies or initiate an intensive follow-up.

Background: Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is a severe opportunistic brain disease caused by lytic JC polyomavirus (JCPyV) replication in oligodendrocytes. Although JCPyV infection is common in the general population, PML almost exclusively occurs in patients immunocompromised due to untreated HIV/AIDS, haematological malignancies, primary immunodeficiencies, solid organ transplantation, or immunomodulatory treatment of autoimmune diseases. There is no effective antiviral treatment, and recovery depends on immune reconstitution.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the parotid gland is a relatively rare neoplasm, accounting for 10-15 % of all salivary gland tumors. Metastasis to the uveal region, particularly to the ciliary body and iris, is extremely uncommon, with the first case reported in 2011. This case report describes a 32-year-old woman with a history of ACC of the parotid gland.

Growing scientific evidence suggests a link between the expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and cervical cancer carcinogenesis. Specifically, a close relation between TLR4 expression and FIGO stage, lymph node metastases, and tumor size has been reported in cervical cancer. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between TLR4 expression levels and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and/or high-risk (hr) HPV integration status in patients with a histological diagnosis of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (H-SIL), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the uterine cervix.
