Gengnianchun Against HO-Induced Oxidative Damage in KGN Cells via miR-548m/FOXO3 Signaling.

J Cell Biochem

January 2025

Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine, The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Gengnianchun (GNC) is a traditional remedy used for diminished ovarian reserve, but its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to explore these mechanisms in human granulosa-like cancer (KGN) cells pretreated with medicated rat serum (MRS) before HO exposure. MRS pretreatment significantly alleviated HO-induced cell damage, including improvements in cell viability, superoxide dismutase and GSH-Px activities, and Bcl-2 expression.

Protective mechanism of safflower yellow injection on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats by activating NLRP3 inflammasome.

BMC Complement Med Ther

January 2025

Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of Xiyuan Hospital, Beijing Key Laboratory of Chinese Materia Pharmacology, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, National Clinical Research Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Cardiovascular Diseases, Beijing, China.

Objectives: This study intended to explore whether the protective effect safflower yellow injection (SYI) on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats mediated of the NLRP3 inflammasome signaling.

Methods: The I/R model was prepared by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery for 45 min and then releasing the blood flow for 150 min. 96 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham group, I/R group, Hebeishuang group (HBS), SYI high-dose group (I/R + SYI-H), SYI medium-dose group (I/R + SYI-M) and SYI low-dose group (I/R + SYI-L).

Enzyme-assisted Rosa davurica mitigates UV-induced skin photodamage by modulating apoptosis through Nrf2/ARE and MAPK/NF-κB pathways.

J Photochem Photobiol B

January 2025

Graduate School of Biotechnology, Kyung Hee University, 1732 Deogyeong-daero, Giheung, Yongin 17104, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Exposure to UV irradiation results in abnormal, extensive apoptosis of skin cells. This excessive cell death can promote inflammation and alter the microenvironment, increasing the risk of skin cancer. Despite extensive research, few materials are effective at simultaneously protecting against both UVA and UVB irradiation.

Centella asiatica (L.) Urban, one of the authentic medicinal materials from Guizhou Province in China, has been traditionally applied for the treatment of contusions and fractures, as well as for promoting wound healing. Preliminary research suggests that asiaticoside-nitric oxide hydrogel (ACNO) exhibits the potential to enhance the healing of diabetic wounds (DWs); however, the underlying molecular mechanisms require further elucidation.

Cardioprotective potential of tectochrysin against vanadium induced heart damage via regulating NLRP3, JAK1/STAT3 and NF-κB pathway.

J Trace Elem Med Biol

January 2025

Department of Pathology, College of Medicine, King Khalid University, Asir 61421, Saudi Arabia; Department of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology, Mansoura University, Egypt.

Background: Vanadium (VAN) is a significant trace element, but its higher exposure is reported to cause severe organ toxicity. Tectochrysin (TEC) is a naturally derived flavonoid which demonstrates a wide range of pharmacological properties.

Aim: The current study was planned to assess the cardioprotective potential of TEC against VAN induced cardiotoxicity in rats via regulating biochemical, and histological profile.
