Iron Deficiency in Tomatoes Reversed by Strains: A Synergistic Role of Siderophores and Plant Gene Activation.

Plants (Basel)

December 2024

Plant Physiology, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences Department, Faculty of Pharmacy, San Pablo-CEU Universities, 28668 Boadilla del Monte, Spain.

An alkaline pH in soils reduces Fe availability, limiting Fe uptake, compromising plant growth, and showing chlorosis due to a decrease in chlorophyll content. To achieve proper Fe homeostasis, dicotyledonous plants activate a battery of strategies involving not only Fe absorption mechanisms, but also releasing phyto-siderophores and recruiting siderophore-producing bacterial strains. A screening for siderophore-producing bacterial isolates from the rhizosphere of was carried out, resulting in two strains, Z8.

Exposure to Cadmium and Other Trace Elements Among Individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Toxics

December 2024

Environmental, Genetics, and Nutritional Epidemiology Research Center (CREAGEN), Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neural Sciences, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, 41125 Modena, Italy.

Background: A limited number of studies have investigated the role of environmental chemicals in the etiology of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). We performed a cross-sectional study of the association between exposure to selected trace elements and the biomarkers of cognitive decline.

Methods: During 2019-2021, we recruited 128 newly diagnosed patients with MCI from two Neurology Clinics in Northern Italy, i.

Unlabelled: This study investigated how the gene variation related to RMR alteration affects risk factors of obese environments in children with obesity aged 8-9.

Methods: Over a three-year follow-up period, 63.3% of original students participated.

Micronutrient deficiencies (MNDs) are commonly reported after bariatric and metabolic surgery, including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Nevertheless, the micronutrient status changes over time and the influence of sex or initial body mass index (BMI) on these changes are less explored. This study aims to investigate the changes in micronutrient levels at 6 and 12 months after LSG and the potential influence of sex or baseline BMI (≥40 kg/m) on these changes in patients submitted to LSG.

Objectives: Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is highly prevalent in patients with breast cancer, resulting in undesirable outcomes and even reduced survival rates. This cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between dietary quality and CRF in patients with breast cancer, and the potential role of gut microbiota (GM) in this association.

Methods: Dietary intake and CRF were evaluated in 342 patients, with 64 fecal samples collected for 16sRNA sequencing and 106 plasma samples for tryptophan (TRP) metabolite determination.
