The level of lactates and pyruvates in arterial blood of 35 patients with myocardial infarction without shock (17-without heart insufficiency and 18-with manifested but in various degrees) is higher as compared with the level of 18 healthy subject and the elevation is better manifested in the patients with cardiac insufficiency. The highest level of lactates and pyruvates is reached in the first 48 hours of the onset of the disease, after which they decrease progressively and in patients without cardiac insufficiency is normalized by the 5-6th day and in those with insufficiency-remains elevated. Slight to moderate correlation exists between the level of lactates and BE and PaCO2. Lacate and pyruvate level reoresents a more sensitive index for the existence of distrubances in the tissue metabolism as compared with the indices of alkaline-acid equilibtrium.

Purpose: Blood lactate concentration is commonly used to assess metabolic demand and skeletal muscle training response. The objective of the pilot study was to investigate if a change in blood lactate was detectable in an anaerobically designed vocal demand task vocal capacity anaerobic task (VCAT) and determine if the developed vocal demand task may assess the anaerobic capacity of the voice musculature, like anaerobic power tests commonly used in applied exercise science.
Methods: A prospective repeated measures study quantified blood lactate concentration preVCAT and postVCAT in vocally healthy adults.

We aimed to explore the role of ikarugamycin (IKA) in breast cancer, its connection with hexokinase-2 (HK-2) repression, and tissue factor (TF). This study sought to extend the role of HK-2 as a TF activator in a comprehensive analysis of these interactions from the enzyme, gene, and protein levels. The investigation was performed with MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 breast cancer lines.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a crucial coenzyme in cellular metabolism and is implicated in various diseases. This work introduces an electrochemical bioanalytical method utilizing solution-phase formate dehydrogenase (CbFDH) for detecting its oxidized form (NAD) in human blood plasma samples. The detection mechanism involves the catalytic conversion of NAD to NADH, facilitated by CbFDH in the presence of formate.

Hemolytic anemia (HA) is characterized by massive destruction of red blood cells (RBCs) and insufficient oxygen supply, which can lead to shock, organ failure, even death. Recent studies have preliminarily demonstrated the therapeutic effectiveness of whole blood exchange (WBE) in the management of acute hemolytic anemia and exhibited potential for reducing the duration of corticosteroid treatment, while the underlying mechanism of WBE therapy was not investigated in preclinical study. Hence, we investigate the therapeutic mechanisms of WBE in HA through established continued WBE therapy in rats creatively.

Hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelet count (HELLP) syndrome is a severe complication of preeclampsia (PE), with a higher incidence rate in people living at high altitudes, such as Tibet area. Maternal HELLP syndrome is associated with an elevated neonatal mortality rate. The purpose of this study was to investigate the predicting factors for neonatal outcomes with maternal HELLP syndrome.
