Hepatobiliary (HB) contrast agents are increasingly valuable diagnostic tools in MRI, offering a wider range of applications as their clinical use expands. Normal hepatocytes take up HB contrast agents, which are subsequently excreted in bile. This property creates a distinct HB phase providing valuable insights into liver function and biliary anatomy.

Beyond XGBoost and SHAP: Unveiling true feature importance.

J Hazard Mater

January 2025

This paper outlines key machine learning principles, focusing on the use of XGBoost and SHAP values to assist researchers in avoiding analytical pitfalls. XGBoost builds models by incrementally adding decision trees, each addressing the errors of the previous one, which can result in inflated feature importance scores due to the method's emphasis on misclassified examples. While SHAP values provide a theoretically robust way to interpret predictions, their dependence on model structure and feature interactions can introduce biases.

The introduction and spread of invasive insects is accelerating worldwide owing to human activities, such as trade and transportation development; in particular, ports are hubs and routes for invasive insects, including ants. We surveyed ant populations in eight ports from 2021 to 2023 using pitfall traps. A total of 316,975 ants belonging to four subfamilies, 26 genera and 44 species were identified as , , and .

For about 100 years, the shake flask has been established for biotechnological cultivations as one of the most important cultivation systems in early process development. Its appeal lies in its simple handling and highly versatile application for a wide range of cell types-from bacteria to mammalian cells. In recent decades, extensive research has been conducted on the shake flask, to not perform processes blindly but to gain a deeper understanding of the various process parameters, phenomena, and their impact on the process.
