The extracts of the aerial parts and tubers of Asphodelus microcarpus (Liliacee) were studied. The fatty acids, the sugars and some anthraquinone glycosides were determined by means of GC/FTIR, GC/MS and HPLC. The antimicrobial activity of essential oil of aerial parts against blastomycetes, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria was evaluated.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D), characterized by insulin resistance and β-cell dysfunction, requires continuous advancements in management strategies, particularly in controlling postprandial hyperglycemia to prevent complications. Current antidiabetics, which have α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities, have side effects, prompting the search for better alternatives. In addition, diabetes patients are particularly vulnerable to yeast infections because an unusual sugar concentration promotes the growth of spp.

Xanthine oxidase (XO) plays a critical role in purine catabolism, catalyzing the conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid, contributing to superoxide anion production. This process is implicated in various human diseases, particularly gout. Traditional XO inhibitors, such as allopurinol and febuxostat, while effective, may present side effects.

Herein, it was aimed to evaluate three different extracts of the plant Asphodelus aestivus in terms of their antioxidant capacity, total phenolic content, flavonoid profile, and anticholinergic and antidiabetic activity. In addition, the phenolic content of the A. aestivus extracts was determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry.

Zoological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, 1 Universitetskaya Emb., 199034 Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The present study is an update on the situation of potential vectors of in Tunisia. Investigations in nine Tunisian regions (Nabeul, Bizerte, Béja, Jendouba, Zaghouan, Kairouan, Ben Arous, Tunis and Manouba) from 2018 to 2021 allowed for the observation of 3758 Aphrophoridae among a total of 9702 Auchenorrhyncha individuals collected by sweep net. Four Aphrophoridae species were identified with as most abundant (62%), followed by (28%), (5%) and (5%).

National Agricultural Research Institute of Tunisia (INRAT), LR11INRAT06 Laboratory of Biotechnology Applied to Agriculture, Carthage University, Tunis, Tunisia.

This research was conducted to determine the effect of geographical distribution on morphological characteristics of plants and some chemical compounds such as polyphenols. Moreover, we explore the contact toxicity of ethanolic and methanolic extracts from bulbs and tubers collected from three localities in the North West of Tunisia against adults. The toxicity results demonstrated that both of the studied plant extracts had an effective control against at concentration 7.
