The inhibitor of chloride channels DIDS (10 microM) decreased and a chloride-free medium increased the cAMP level in the Xenopus laevis follicles stimulated by human chorionic gonadotropin. Also, DIDS inhibited while the chloride-free medium stimulated maturation of the follicle-enclosed oocytes.
