Difficult airway management in 25 hospitals across China: A multicenter cross-sectional study.

J Clin Anesth

January 2025

Department of Anaesthesiology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Clinical Research Academy of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Study Objective: Difficult airway management is a significant challenge in clinical anesthesia, critical care, and emergency medicine. Inadequate management can lead to severe complications including organ damage and death. This study assessed the variability in difficult airway management across China and focused on how patient and operator factors influenced outcomes in operating rooms.

The estimation of peripheral dose (PD) is vital in cancer patients with long life expectancy. Assessment of PD to radiosensitive organs is important to determine the possible risk of late effects. An attempt has been made to assess the peripheral dose using optically stimulated luminescence dosimeter (OSLD) with megavoltage photon beams as a function of field size, depth, energy, and distance from the field edge.

Conjoined twinning is a special case of monozygotic, monoamniotic twinning. Human conjoined twinning, and vertebrate conjoined twinning in general, is a very rare phenomenon. It has been suggested that the risk of conjoined twinning increases with some medication and upon assisted reproduction.

Triggering final follicular maturation for IVF cycles.

Reprod Biol Endocrinol

January 2025

Infertility and IVF Unit, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chaim Sheba Medical Center (Tel Hashomer), Ramat Gan, 52621, Israel.

As part of a conventional controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) regimen, final follicular maturation is usually triggered by a single bolus dose of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). COH, which combines GnRH antagonist co-treatment with GnRH agonist(GnRHa) trigger, is often used in attempts to eliminate severe early ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and to improve oocyte/embryo yield and quality. Recently, the combination of GnRHa, with hCG trigger has also been implemented into clinical practice.

Current understanding of human bioaccumulation patterns and health effects of exposure to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS).

J Hazard Mater

January 2025

Fisheries Science Institute, Chonnam National University, Yeosu 59626, South Korea; Department of Ocean Integrated Science, Chonnam National University, Yeosu 59626, South Korea. Electronic address:

Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) is a persistent organic pollutant of global concern due to its environmental presence, bioaccumulative potential and toxicological impacts. This review synthesizes current knowledge regarding PFOS exposure, bioaccumulation patterns and adverse health outcomes in human population. Analysis of worldwide biomonitoring data, and epidemiological studies reveals PFOS systemic effects, including immunological dysfunction (decreased vaccine response), developmental toxicity (reduced birth weight), hepatic metabolic disruption, potential carcinogenogenicity, and reproductive abnormalities.
