The global ornamental fish trade carries important risk factors for spreading pathogens between different countries and regions, not only for ornamental fish but also for cultured fish and even other animal species. In the current study, we reported the capacity of Aeromonas veronii and A. hydrophila isolated from ornamental fish to experimentally infect the reared Amazonian fish Colossoma macropomum.

Ethylmalonic encephalopathy (MIM #602473) is a rare autosomal recessive metabolic condition caused by biallelic variants in (MIM #608451), characterized by global developmental delay, infantile hypotonia, seizures, and microvascular damage. The microvascular changes result in a pattern of relapsing spontaneous diffuse petechiae and purpura, positional acrocyanosis, and pedal edema, hemorrhagic suffusions of mucous membranes, and chronic diarrhea. Here, we describe an instructive case in which ethylmalonic encephalopathy masqueraded as meningococcal septicemia and shock.

Összefoglaló. A könnyűlánc-amyloidosis ritka, multidiszciplináris jelentőségű kórkép, melynek hátterében az esetek döntő hányadában egy amyloidogen fehérje, a csontvelő kóros plazmasejtjeiben termelődő monoklonálisimmunglobulin-molekula lambda típusú könnyűláncának felszaporodása áll. A klinikai tünetek az érintett szervek függvényében igen változatosak és gyakran nem specifikusak, ezért a betegség sok esetben későn kerül felismerésre.

This study aimed to characterize the effects of wooden breast myopathy (WBM) on quality of broiler chicken breast meat. Normal samples (absence of myopathy), moderate-degree samples (hardness only in one area of the breast fillet) and severe-degree samples (hardness throughout the breast fillet) were classified. In macroscopic analysis, the pectoral muscle affected by the WBM showed, in general, pale color with stiff, irregular and reddish regions (suffusions and petechiae), with the presence of white striations.
