High density oligonucleotide arrays (DNA chips) have been used in two color mutational analysis of the 3.43 kb exon 11 of the hereditary breast and ovarian cancer gene BRCA1 . Two color analysis allows competitive hybridization between a reference standard and an unknown sample, improving the performance of the assay. Fluorescein and phycoerythrin dyes werepreviously used due to their compatibility with a single line 488 nm excitation source. Here we show that an alternative dye combination, containing the energy transfer dye system phycoerythrin*cy5 along with phycoerythrin, provides more evenly matched signal intensities and decreased spectral overlap between the two fluorophores, while maintaining compatibility with a 488 nm excitation source.

Objectives: The aims of the study are to predict lung function impairment in patients with connective tissue disease (CTD)-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) through computed tomography (CT) quantitative analysis parameters based on CT deep learning model and density threshold method and to assess the severity of the disease in patients with CTD-ILD.
Methods: We retrospectively collected chest high-resolution CT images and pulmonary function test results from 105 patients with CTD-ILD between January 2021 and December 2023 (patients staged according to the gender-age-physiology [GAP] system), including 46 males and 59 females, with a median age of 64 years. Additionally, we selected 80 healthy controls (HCs) with matched sex and age, who showed no abnormalities in their chest high-resolution CT.

The self-assembly of biological membraneless organelles can be mimicked by active droplets resulting from chemically fueled microphase separation. However, how the nonequilibrium, transient structure of these active droplets can be controlled through the physicochemical input parameters is not yet well understood. In our work, a chemically fueled two-state chemical reaction and subsequent droplet growth and decay are modeled with a reactive Brownian dynamics simulation in two spatial dimensions.

Greenhouse gases (GHGs) have caused great harm to the ecological environment, so it is necessary to screen gas sensor materials for detecting GHGs. In this study, we propose an ideal gas sensor design strategy with high screening efficiency and low cost targeting four typical GHGs (CO, CH, NO, SF). This strategy introduces machine learning (ML) methods based on density functional theory (DFT) to achieve accurate and rapid screening from a large number of candidate gas sensor materials.

Increasing aquaculture production requires high-density farming, which induces stress, necessitating supplements to mitigate its effects and ensure fish health. The aim of this study was to examine how CaNa2EDTA (EDTA) affects the growth, immune response and antioxidant activity in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The fish were raised at three different stocking densities: low (LD = 2.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-associated gene therapy has been increasingly promising, in light of the drugs progressed to clinical trials or approved for medications internationally. Therefore, scalable and efficient production of recombinant AAV is pivotal for advancing gene therapy. Traditional methods, such as the triple-plasmid transfection of human embryonic kidney 293 cells in suspension culture, have been widely employed but often hampered by low unit yield.
