This work studied the incorporation of methomyl, a carbamate insecticide, into the hair of New Zealand white rabbits. A total of 600 mg methomyl was administered by drinking water over 4 mo, and acetylcholinesterase activity in serum was monitored. At the end of the dosing period, hair from the back of the rabbits was cut off, and the methomyl concentration was measured using ELISA and HPLC. A decrease of serum acetylcholinesterase occurred. The top cm of hair contained no methomyl, the second cm contained 0.9 ng/mg and the 3rd cm of hair contained 3 ng methomyl/mg. Methomyl was incorporated into the rabbit hair in a process independent of gender but dependent on the hair growth rate.

Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous endocrine-metabolic syndrome mainly characterized by ovarian dysfunction, which is only one manifestation of a more complex syndrome with a significant systemic impact.
Evidence Acquisition: We review scientific literature on the pathophysiology and diagnosis of PCOS evaluating the most relevant data from original articles, reviews and meta-analyses published until June 2024.
Evidence Synthesis: From a pathophysiological point of view, the concurrence of both metabolic aspects, such as insulin resistance and obesity, and hormonal alterations, such as hyperandrogenemia, might produce the most relevant clinical signs and/symptoms of this syndrome, for instance menstrual irregularities, hair loss, acne and hirsutism.

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease characterized by the loss of functional melanocytes in the hair follicles and epidermis, leading to white patches on the skin and mucous membranes. Alopecia areata (AA) is a common immune-mediated condition in which autoimmune attack on hair follicles cause non-scarring hair loss. Both diseases significantly impact patients's physical and mental health.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease with a complex etiology primarily linked to abnormalities in B lymphocytes within the human body, resulting in the production of numerous pathogenic autoantibodies. Telitacicept is a relatively novel humanized, recombinant transmembrane activator, calcium modulator and cyclophilin ligand interactor fused with the Fc portion (TACI-Fc). It works by competitively inhibiting the TACI site, neutralizing the activity of B-cell lymphocyte stimulator and A proliferation-inducing ligand.

A 53-year-old woman undergoing combination therapy with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitors for advanced lung cancer with brain metastases developed pustules and punctate purpura on both lower extremities. Histopathological examination revealed neutrophilic infiltration around the hair follicles and erythrocyte extravasation in the perivascular regions near the hair roots, leading to a diagnosis of purpuric papulopustular eruptions. The rash improved with oral doxycycline (100 mg/day) and topical corticosteroids.

We present a four-month-old female child with hypopigmented silvery hair and a history of recurrent hospitalisations for respiratory illness. The child was extensively evaluated for inborn errors of immunity (IEI), and the final diagnosis of type 2 Griscelli syndrome was made only after genetic testing.
