Purpose: To assess the value of preoperative axillary sonography possibly malignant for breast tumours.

Method: We performed preoperative axillary sonography on 89 patients with suspicious breast tumours. In 78 cases, among which there were 74 invasive carcinomas, the surgery that followed included an axillary lymph node dissection and a comparison with the histology was possible.

Results: The sonographic detection of axillary lymph node metastases has a sensitivity of 90% and a specificity of 91.7% in relation to all tumour stages and a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 89.6% in relation to T1 tumours. In our analysis, therefore, it is vastly superior to a clinical examination of the axilla.

Conclusion: Ultrasonography is an accurate imaging method for the diagnosis of axillary lymph node metastases. Broadening this analysis to include more patients will validate this conclusion. The results of our preliminary study suggest that this diagnostic method could help reduce unnecessary radical surgery in the treatment of breast cancer.

We would like to present a 49-year-old female patient who was presented with a vulva lesion and palpable inguinal lymph nodes who were diagnosed with disseminated multiorgan involvement of high grade diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography computerized tomography imaging showed multiple cervical, axillary, and abdominal lymph nodes, pulmonary nodules as well as gross hypermetabolic vulvar lesion.

Preoperative comprehensive risk estimation for axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer: development and verification of a network-based prediction model.

To prevent the overaggressive treatment of axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) in breast cancer, it is necessary to develop a convenient analysis method that accurately and comprehensively reflects whether ALNs are metastatic or nonmetastatic. We retrospectively analyzed data from patients who underwent surgery for breast cancer at the Weifang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2019 and June 2023. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to predict the metastasis status of ALNs.

Different types of digital modalities are currently available for frozen section (FS) evaluation in surgical pathology practice. However, there are limited studies that demonstrate the potential of whole slide imaging (WSI) as a robust digital pathology option for FS FS diagnosis. In the current study, we compared the diagnostic accuracy achieved with WSI to that achieved with Light Microscopy (LM) for evaluating FSs of axillary sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) and clipped lymph nodes (LNs) from breast cancer patients using two modalities.

Objective: The necessity of preoperative lymphoscintigraphy before intraoperative sentinel lymph node (SLN) identification is still unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of SLN imaging on intraoperative SLN detection in breast cancer patients.

Methods: Retrospective, comparative, single center study of patients with breast cancer stage pT1 and pT2 who underwent axillary staging.

Occult breast cancer in an older woman: A case report.

Exp Ther Med

Department of Breast Surgery, China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin 130033, P.R. China.

Occult breast cancer (OBC) is a relatively rare clinical condition that can complicate differential diagnosis efforts and delay the administration of specific treatments. The individualized therapy of patients with OBC should be performed based on their clinical symptoms, imaging findings and pathological diagnosis. The present case study describes a 51-year-old woman with a painless left axillary tumor.
