The relationship between stress and immunity is not a hot topic of psychoneuroimmunology. The review outlines the main aspects of these interrelations; stress sensitive immunological markers, experimental research and studies on humans which underline the prevailing immunosuppressive effects of stress are discussed. A classification of stress-related diseases comprises autoimmune, acute, psychosomatic and neuroendocrine diseases. Besides the hypothalamopituitary-adrenocortical axis and the symparthoadrenal system, newer information points to the role of cytokines, opioids and other mediators in the complex mechanisms involved. Several data from the physiological laboratory in Cluj are included. The final consideration outlines some unclarified aspects and new research directions.

Scientific research on forest therapy's preventive medical and mental health effects has advanced, but the need for clear evidence for practical applications remains. We conducted an unblinded randomized controlled trial involving healthy men aged 40-70 to compare the physiological and psychological effects of forest and urban walking. Eighty-four participants were randomly assigned to either the forest or urban group, with 78 completing 90-min walks and analysis.

The aberrant vascular response associated with tendon injury results in circulating immune cell infiltration and a chronic inflammatory feedback loop leading to poor healing outcomes. Studying this dysregulated tendon repair response in human pathophysiology has been historically challenging due to the reliance on animal models. To address this, our group developed the human tendon-on-a-chip (hToC) to model cellular interactions in the injured tendon microenvironment; however, this model lacked the key element of physiological flow in the vascular compartment.

Understanding the global transcriptomic and metabolic changes during mulberry growth and development is essential for the enhancing fruit quality and optimizing breeding strategies. By integrating phenotypic, metabolomic, and transcriptomic data across 18 developmental and ripening stages of Da10 mulberry fruit, a global map of gene expression and metabolic changes was generated. Analysis revealed a gradual progression of morphological, metabolic, and transcriptional changes throughout the development and ripening phases.

Biofilms are complex adhesive structures that establish chronic infection and allow robust protection from external stressors such as antibiotics. Cellulose as one of the compositions of bacteria biofilm which protect bacteria from stress, host immune responses and resistance to antibiotics. Bacterial stress responses are regulated via guanosine pentaphosphate and tetraphosphate (p)ppGpp.

Cellular senescence precipitates a decline in physiological activities and metabolic functions, often accompanied by heightened inflammatory responses, diminished immune function, and impaired tissue and organ performance. Despite extensive research, the mechanisms underpinning cellular senescence remain incompletely elucidated. Emerging evidence implicates circadian rhythm and hypoxia as pivotal factors in cellular senescence.
