Objective: Coral reef atherosclerosis of the visceral aorta (CRA) is associated with renovascular hypertension (RVH), chronic mesenteric ischaemia (CMI), and malperfusion of the lower limbs. The outcomes of open surgery for this rare disease are described in this paper.
Methods: This retrospective study included all patients who underwent open surgical repair of CRA at a single high volume referral centre between January 2009 and June 2023.

Children requiring veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) or cardiac surgery often undergo cervical cannulation or carotid artery clamping, which can interrupt cerebral circulation. Inadequate collateral flow through the circle of Willis (CoW) may lead to cerebral ischaemia within the vascular territory and/or watershed regions. Pre-cannulation survey of the CoW using transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound may be performed to predict and plan neuroprotection.

Objectives: Patency for chronic total occlusions (CTO) of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) after endovascular interventions traditionally demonstrate a low 1-year patency ranging from 40%-60%. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) catheter (Avinger Inc., Redwood City, CA) uses light-based technology imaging to cross Trans-Atlantic Inter-Society Consensus D (TASC D) lesions intraluminally with direct intra-arterial visualization.
