Colonic wounds vary greatly in their severity and the number of concomitantly injured organs. Relatively few colonic wounds are single; these can usually be treated by primary repair. The approach to colonic wounds generally must be selective and take into account the degree of associated shock, contamination, and surrounding tissue damage. Judicious application of the wide variety of technical approaches available today has increased the incidence of primary repair to over 50% and has reduced mortality to 10% to 15%.

Background/aims: Delayed postpolypectomy bleeding occurs in approximately 1% to 2% of all patients undergoing colonoscopic polypectomy, and this rate increases to 6% in patients with large (>2 cm) colon polyps. Sucralfate can protect the mucosa and promote its healing. This study was conducted to investigate whether colonoscopic spraying of sucralfate powder on polypectomy wounds can prevent delayed postoperative bleeding.

Background: The Apoptosis-Stimulating Protein of P53 (ASPP) family contributes to apoptosis regulation and tumor suppression, with ASPP1 influencing processes like cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. Its expression varies across cancer types, suggesting a potential role in oncogenesis.
Methods: This study investigates ASPP1's role across various cancers using a comprehensive bioinformatics approach.

It was imperative to discover and utilize high-efficiency, non-toxic substances for the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its associated complications, given the escalating prevalence and significant global health burden. In the present study, the acetylated Ganoderma applanatum polysaccharide (A-GAP) was successfully obtained and characterized, demonstrating excellent efficacy in ameliorating organ damage induced by T2DM through targeted modulation of the gut-liver axis. The physiological and molecular biological findings indicated that A-GAP may modulate the Nrf2/Keap1-TLR4/NFκB-Bax/Bcl-2 signaling pathway network, thereby mitigating oxidative stress and the subsequent inflammatory response, ultimately alleviating the inhibitory effects of IRS and insulin resistance.

Irinotecan (CPT11) chemotherapy-induced diarrhea affects a substantial cancer population due to -glucuronidase (Gus) converting 10--glucuronyl-7-ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin (SN38G) to toxic 7-ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin (SN38). Existing interventions primarily address inflammation and Gus enzyme inhibition, neglecting epithelial repair and Gus-expressing bacteria. Herein, we discovered that dehydrodiisoeugenol (DDIE), isolated from nutmeg, alleviates CPT11-induced intestinal mucositis alongside a synergistic antitumor effect with CPT11 by improving weight loss, colon shortening, epithelial barrier dysfunction, goblet cells and intestinal stem cells (ISCs) loss, and wound-healing.

However, there is still a lack of systematic research on the effects of quinoa saponins on colon cancer cells. This experiment confirmed that quinoa saponins prevented human colon cancer HT-29 cells from growing in vitro.
