Seven patients, all females out of 29 with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) (16 males and 13 females) treated with the VACOP-B regimen utilizing granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) support developed chemotherapy-induced acral erythema (CAE). In contrast, none of 32 patients with NHL who were treated with CHOP, MACOP-B, or biweekly CHOP regimens without G-CSF developed CAE. Total dose intensities of VACOP-B regimen were higher than those of the three other regimens. However, no significant difference in dose intensities of each drug in the patients treated with the VACOP-B regimen was found between male and female patients and between female patients with or without CAE. The cause of the high incidence of CAE (7/13) in the female patients treated with VACOP-B regimen remains unknown. However, female sex hormones may increase susceptibility to CAE. Since the occurrence of CAE interrupts intensive chemotherapy and reduces the cure rate, high risk patients for CAE should be carefully monitored for early symptoms and signs of CAE and should be treated early and appropriately.

The unique biological features of primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma are offering suggestions for the development and application of innovative drugs in patients who do not respond to first-line regimens or relapse. This lymphoma, in fact, is characterised by high rates of curability with standard anthracycline-containing chemoimmunotherapy regimens, but still displays a severe prognosis if adequate responses are not rapidly achieved or if the disease recurs. Radiotherapy has proved to be effective to consolidate responses after induction, but it may be safely avoided in certain cases, especially when a metabolic complete response is obtained, as to reduce the incidence of radiation-induced long-term sequelae.

Purpose: To assess the predictive value of F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for disease recurrence after immunochemotherapy (R-CHT) and mediastinal irradiation (RT), using the recently published criteria of the Lugano classification to predict outcomes for patients with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma.

Methods And Materials: Among 125 patients prospectively enrolled in the IELSG-26 study, 88 were eligible for central review of PET/CT scans after completion of RT. Responses were evaluated using the 5-point Deauville scale at the end of induction R-CHT and after consolidation RT.

As the optimal treatment for primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL) remains undefined, we evaluated outcomes of patients treated with standard and dose-intense rituximab-chemotherapy (R-CT) with and without radiotherapy (RT). We retrospectively identified 28 patients with stage I-II PMBCL in our lymphoma database, re-reviewed pathology slides and scored interim or post-chemotherapy PET/CTs using the Deauville scale. Fourteen patients received RT (36-45 Gy) preceded by either six cycles of rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) or 12 weeks of rituximab, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, prednisone and bleomycin (R-VACOP-B) with median follow-up of 94 months.

Aim: To elaborate a management tactic for pregnant women with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMLBL) and to assess the toxicity of its treatment to the mother and fetus.

Subjects And Methods: In 2004 to 2014, the Hematology Research Center, Ministry of Health of Russia, treated 94 patients with mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma, 7 (7.4%) of them developed the disease during pregnancy.

The choice of a rituximab-based regimen and the prognostic significance of interim 2-[fluorine-18]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) in primary mediastinal large B cell lymphoma (PMBCL) are debatable. We evaluated the clinical features and outcomes of 95 consecutive patients with PMBCL who were treated between 1985 and 2009. Forty-three patients received rituximab-based chemotherapy, R-VACOP-B (N = 30) or R-CHOP21 (N = 13), whereas 52 patients were treated with VACOP-B (N = 47) or CHOP21 (N = 5).
