Introduction And Objective: Massive usage of new neuroimaging techniques has produced an increase in the number of patients with cerebral venous thrombosis. Our aim has been to evaluate this shift in our county through the clinico-radiologic characteristics of the patients admitted to our unit.
Material And Methods: Over the last 7 years a total of 12 patients suffering from cerebral venous thrombosis were attended in our department. We have analyzed retrospectively their clinical records.
Results: There were 11 women 1 man with a range of ages from 13 to 60 years old. The main associated factor was oral contraceptives intake. Most of them presented with symptoms of benign intracranial hypertension. Magnetic resonance imaging was the most sensitive diagnostic tool. Outcome was good in general. Most of them were treated with intravenous heparin during the acute phase and received oral anticoagulation for 6 months. More than half were diagnosed all over the last three years.
Conclusions: Our data seem to confirm this tendency towards a larger number of cases with the application of new diagnostic tools. In these cases, clinical course is more benign than reported in classical series.

This case report details a patient who experienced simultaneous arterial and venous thrombosis of major intracranial vessels due to venom-induced consumptive coagulopathy. Additionally, the patient developed diffuse alveolar haemorrhage (DAH), highlighting the severe impact of these uncommon complications on prognosis.

Anti-platelet factor 4 (PF4) antibody-mediated disorders are a heterogenous group of diseases characterized by the presence of highly pathogenic immunoglobulins G directed against PF4 and/or PF4/heparin complexes. These antibodies are able to activate platelets, neutrophils and monocytes, thus resulting in thrombocytopenia and a hypercoagulable state. Five different forms of anti-PF4 antibody-mediated disorders have been identified: i) classic heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (cHIT) mediated by heparin and certain polyanionic drugs; ii) autoimmune HIT (aHIT) characterized by the presence of anti-PFA/polyanion antibodies that can strongly activate platelets even in the absence of heparin; iii) spontaneous HIT (spHIT) characterized by thrombocytopenia and thrombosis without proximate exposure to heparin, with two subtypes: (a) post-total knee arthroplasty, and cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and (b) post-infections; iv) vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) characterized by thrombocytopenia, arterial and venous thrombosis, or secondary hemorrhage after receiving adenoviral vector vaccines for COVID-19; v) VITT-like disorders triggered by adenoviral infections.

The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Central Nervous System Expert Panel is made up of physicians from the disciplines of radiology, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, and neurology, a patient advisor, and an epidemiologist/guideline methodologist. After developing a list of 24 clinical/diagnostic scenarios, a rapid scoping review was undertaken to identify systematically produced referral guidelines that provide recommendations for one or more of these clinical/diagnostic scenarios. Recommendations from 55 guidelines and contextualization criteria in the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) for guidelines framework were used to develop 51 recommendation statements across the 24 scenarios.

Background: Liver cirrhosis complicated by portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a fatal complication with no specific manifestations but often misdiagnosed, it crucially increases the mortality worldwide.
