Objectives: Worldwide emergence of clonal outbreaks caused by fluconazole-resistant (FLCR) and the recent emergence of echinocandin- and multidrug-resistant (ECR and MDR) Candida parapsilosis isolates pose serious threats to modern clinics. Conducting large-scale epidemiological studies aimed at determining the genetic composition and antifungal resistance rates is necessary to devise antifungal stewardship and infection control strategies at international, national and local levels. Despite being severely hit by outbreaks due to FLCR C.

Background: Candida species are one of the leading causes of invasive fungal infections in pediatric patients with cancer, resulting in increased treatment related morbidity and mortality. There is limited data with respect to demography and outcomes of candidemia among children with cancer, especially from lower-middle income countries.
Methods: In this retrospective observational study conducted over a 4-year Period (January-2017 to December-2021), children less than 15 years with cancer, treated at a tertiary oncology centre in India and diagnosed with candidemia were included.

Background: Alteration in the etiology of pediatric bloodstream infections (BSIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is not well known during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pediatric BSIs and alteration in antimicrobial resistance phenotypes in Gram-positive bacteria.
Methods: The frequency of BSIs among children under 18 years old was retrospectively recorded in a tertiary children's hospital in Tehran, Iran from February 2020 to December 2022.

Background: Candidemia is a widespread threat that can lead to significant complications in healthcare settings.
Objectives: Our study aimed to identify isolates of Candida isolated from blood culture bottles of patients with candidemia and assess their antifungal susceptibility profiles.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study at Cairo University tertiary care hospitals over 16 months including 90 patients.

Knowledge of epidemiology is essential for guiding correct antibiotic prescription, reducing bacteremia-associated mortality, and implementing targeted infection control programs. However, only a few studies have reported on the epidemiology of bloodstream infections (BSIs) in pediatrics. We performed a retrospective analysis of all BSIs (excluding those caused by common skin contaminants) diagnosed from 2006 to 2022 in patients younger than 18 years who were treated at an Italian pediatric tertiary care hospital.
