The monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity with tryptamine, 5-hydroxytryptamine and noreponephrine as substrates was studied as affected by different conditions of hyperbaric oxygenation. Exposure of rats to oxygenation at 1 ati resulted in a 75% activation of the brain mitochondria. MAO activity with norepinephrine and in an insignificant increase in the activity with the other substrates. Oxygenation at 2,4 and 6 ati decreased the brain MAO activity with all the substrates. The reduciton in the activity correlated with oxygen tension increase and with exposure time. The MAO 100% inhibition observed in some animals at 4 ati and ain most animals at 6 ati. In the liver the activity changes to a less extent than in the brain. At 1 ati it is somewhat increased and at 2, 4 and 6 ati it decreases.

The controllable regulation of immune and osteogenic processes plays a critical role in the modification of biocompatible materials for tissue regeneration. In this study, titanium dioxide-europium coatings (MAO/Eu) were prepared on the surface of a titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) a one-step process combining microarc oxidation (MAO) and doping. The incorporation of Eu significantly improved the hydrophilic and mechanical properties of the TiO coatings without altering their morphology.

Carbon dots (CDs) are new types of fluorescent nanomaterials with particle diameters of 1∼10 nm and have excellent photoluminescence (PL) properties, good biocompatibility, simple preparation methods and numerous raw materials; consequently, they are promising in the biomedical field. In recent years, to overcome drug resistance and toxic side effects of traditional organic drugs, the synthesis of CDs from drug molecules has become an effective strategy, which produces CDs with the same therapeutic effects as the raw drugs and even possessing new properties. At present, many CDs derived from organic drugs have been developed, which can be classified according to their sources such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and guanidine drugs.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a primary central nervous system neoplasm, characterized by a grim prognosis and low survival rates. This unfavorable therapeutic outcome is partially attributed to the inadequate immune infiltration and an immunosuppressive microenvironment, which compromises the effectiveness of conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy. To this end, precise modulation of cellular dynamics in the immune system has emerged as a promising approach for therapeutic intervention.

Patinopecten yessoensis (Yesso scallop), one of the most important aquaculture molluscs in China, has recently suffered severe Polydora disease, causing economic losses. Cathepsin L (CatL), a cysteine protease, has important functions in immune responses in vertebrates and invertebrates. However, little is known regarding the structure and function of CatL in scallops.

Biochar is widely recognized as a soil amendment capable of mitigating soil nitrous oxide (NO) emissions. However, the effects of biochar modification, particularly through chemical oxidation, remain relatively unexplored. This study modified wood and corn straw biochars using HO and acid (HSO/HNO).
