Background: Acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE) is an idiopathic posterior segment inflammatory disorder of young adults. The pathogenesis remains unsettled. The placoid lesions and characteristic findings on fluorescein angiography have been interpreted as representing a primary pigment epithelial disorder or a choroidal vascular disease.

Patient: Using Fluorescein and Indocyanine green angiography we examined one patient with APMPPE.

Results: In the acute phase, the fluorescein angiogram showed early hypofluorescence of the ophthalmoscopically visible lesions followed by late hyperfluorescence with centripetal staining of fluorescein at the level of the pigment epithelium. Indocyanine green angiograms showed in the acute stage of this disease areas of hypofluorescence in both the early and late pictures that nearly correlated with the placoid lesions. Three weeks later we saw apart from involution of the initial lesions, new angiographic hypofluorescent lesions at the posterior pole of the left eye, which were ophthalmoscopically not visible. During the next four weeks the older and newer lesions went smaller and left scars. Also the choroidal blood flow was restored partially.

Conclusions: Indocyanine green choroidal videoangiography has shown hypofluorescence of the placoid lesions. This may be explained by choroidal hypoperfusion as the pathogenesis of acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) angle in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) deficient knees and correlate it with anatomical and demographic factors such as tibial slope, anterior tibial translation, age, gender, and time of injury.

Material And Methods: Patients were eligible for inclusion if they were clinically diagnosed with an ACL tear confirmed by MRI. For each patient, the following parameters were evaluated: PCL angle (PCLA), medial tibial slope (MTS), lateral tibial slope (LTS), medial anterior tibial translation (MATT), and lateral anterior tibial translation (LATT).

Outcomes of surgically treated posterior pelvic fractures in an Australian population: A multicenter study.

Injury

January 2025

Department of Surgery, The Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Unit, The Canberra Hospital, Garran, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.

Background: Unstable posterior pelvic-ring fractures are rare and difficult to manage. There are many injury patterns, they are associated with high morbidity and mortality, and optimal surgical management remains contentions. This study aims to compare outcomes and complications for different surgical management of these injuries.

Background: We aimed to assess impairments on health-related quality of life, and mental health resulting from Retinal artery occlusion (RAO) with monocular visual field loss and posterior circulation ischemic stroke (PCIS) with full or partial hemianopia using patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Methods: In a prospective study, consecutive patients with acute RAO on fundoscopy and PCIS on imaging were recruited during their surveillance on a stroke unit over a period of 15 months. Baseline characteristics were determined from medical records and interviews.

Eclampsia is a multisystem disorder of pregnancy and the puerperium. Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), a neurotoxic condition characterized by various neurological symptoms, can arise from multiple causes including eclampsia. Although hemorrhage is a possible complication of PRES, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a rare occurrence in eclamptic patients with this condition.

: Recent advances in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphoma (LL) management provide higher survival rates at the cost of increased toxicities. Acute neurotoxicity affects up to 10% of patients, requiring rapid recognition and treatment. : A retrospective observational study was performed to determine the frequency, clinical manifestations, radiological characteristics, treatment options and outcome of acute neurological adverse events in pediatric patients with lymphoid malignancies at the Department of Oncology and Hematology, Children's Hospital Zagreb, Croatia.
