The present study confirms previous investigations that demonstrated a high copper content in the branchial heart and its appendage, and that gave the first indication that this organ complex might be involved in hemocyanin metabolism in Sepia officinalis L. Immunocytochemical localization of hemocyanin molecules within the endocytotic lysosomal system of the ovoid cells and tracer experiments with 125I-labeled Sepia hemocyanin suggest its endocytotic uptake. Energy-dispersive X-ray microanalysis and histochemical methods reveal a high copper content within the ovoid cells of the branchial heart. In view of the turnover of the respiratory pigment in the branchial heart of Sepia officinalis L., we believe that the ovoid cells are a site of hemocyanin catabolism.

Background: The ability to generate endogenous Cre recombinase drivers using CRISPR-Cas9 knock-in technology allows lineage tracing, cell type specific gene studies, and validation of inferred developmental trajectories from phenotypic and gene expression analyses. This report describes endogenous zebrafish Cre and CreERT2 drivers generated with GeneWeld CRISPR-Cas9 precision targeted integration.
Results: and knock-ins crossed with ubiquitous -based Switch reporters led to broad labeling in expected mesodermal and neural crest-derived lineages in cardiac, pectoral fins, pharyngeal arch, liver, intestine, and mesothelial tissues, as well as enteric neurons.

Air-breathing fish risk losing aerially sourced oxygen to ambient hypoxic water since oxygenated blood from the air-breathing organ returns through the heart to the branchial basket before distribution. This loss is thought to help drive the evolutionary reduction in gill size with the advent of air-breathing. In many teleost fish, gill size is known to be highly plastic by modulation of their anatomic diffusion factor (ADF) with inter-lamellar cell mass (ILCM).

Introduction And Clinical Importance: Goldenhar syndrome (GS) manifests as a triad of ocular, auricular, and vertebral anomalies. We present a rare case report presenting with monocular elevation deficiency (MED) in association with GS secondary to radiologically proven vascular insufficiency.
Case Presentation: A 9-year-old male presented with drooping of the upper eyelid in the right eye (OD), absence of right ear, and swelling near the ear remanent.

When searching over associations between congenital ear abnormalities, especially microtia and affiliated deformities like cleft lip or palate and congenital heart diseases, some clinical analysis and genetic theories are found. A 10-year-old boy sent to the plastic surgery hospital was puzzled by a congenital anterior auricular fistula with fluid trace for more than 9 years. The preoperative diagnoses were branchial cleft fistula and congenital left ear deformity with postoperation of TOF.
