Background: The increasing prevalence of cognitive impairment and dementia threatens global health, necessitating the development of accessible tools for detection of cognitive impairment. This study explores using a transformer-based approach to detect cognitive impairment using acoustic markers of spontaneous speech.
Method: Recordings of unstructured interviews from baseline visits were obtained from participants of The 90+ Study, a longitudinal study of individuals older than 90 years.
Background: Spontaneous speech is easily obtainable and has the potential to become an accessible and low-cost marker for cognitive function. The time-consuming and labor-intensive nature of speech analysis has been a major obstacle to utilizing this promising tool. This study uses a novel transformer-based methodology to explore associations between spontaneous speech language features and global cognition.

Background: The locus coeruleus (LC) is one of the earliest regions accumulating tau pathology in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). As the disease progresses, tau in the LC has been linked to increasing cortical tau and amyloid-beta (Aβ) pathologies and cognitive decline. Previous animal research suggested that novelty-like phasic LC activity protects against AD-related cognitive decline.

Background: Spontaneous reperfusion (SR) occurring before primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) can offer additional clinical benefits to patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The Platelet-to-White Blood Cell Ratio (PWR) has been recognized as a prognostic indicator in various diseases. We aimed to explore the relationship between PWR and SR in patients with STEMI undergoing PPCI.

Objective: To investigate the independent risk factors for short-term mortality in patients with spontaneous cerebellar hemorrhage (SCH) based on Mimics software of medical image control system.
Methods: The clinical data of SCH patients treated at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University from January, 2010 to December, 2021 was retrospectively analyzed and compared, including gender, age, underlyin g diseases, Glasgow coma scale (GCS) and blood pressure at admission, laboratory indicators, imaging data, and short-term (3 weeks after onset) survival status. The imaging examination parameters were accurately calculated using Mimics software, including hematoma volume, longest diameter, and maximum cross-sectional area of cerebellar hemorrhage.
