Aim: To provide some insight into the aetiology of spontaneous abortion, the contents of type V collagen was investigated in human decidual tissues in spontaneous abortion and normal pregnancy.
Methods: Collagens were extracted from decidual tissues in spontaneous abortion (n = 19) and normal pregnancy (n = 25). The different types of collagen alpha chains were separated by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), stained with Coomassie brilliant blue, and measured by densitometry. The relative amounts of the alpha 1 (III) and alpha 1 (V) chains were calculated by dividing the band intensities of the alpha 1 (III) and alpha 1 (V) chains by that of the alpha 1 (I) chain.
Results: The ratio of the alpha 1 (V) chain to that of the alpha 1 (I) chain in decidual tissues in spontaneous abortion was significantly lower than that found in normal pregnancy (p < 0.05).
Conclusions: These results suggest that type V collagen might play an important role in the maintenance of pregnancy and that decreased expression of this collagen could be associated with spontaneous abortion.

Autosomal hypophosphatemic rickets though a rare genetic disorder can lead to significant discomfort to the patient resulting in clinical deterioration and a poor quality of life. We describe a case of a 33-year-old woman G2P1001 at 6 weeks of gestation with complaints of myalgia and bony pains. Keeping her history of bony pains and fractures in mind, she was further evaluated.

Objective: To study the correlation between anti-Müllerian hormone levels and pregnancy outcomes after in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection in women with polycystic ovary syndrome, which remains controversial.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study recruited 4,719 women with infertility and polycystic ovary syndrome aged 20-40 years who underwent treatment at the Reproductive Center of Peking University Third Hospital between February 2017 and June 2023. We divided the participants into three groups according to the 25th and 75th percentile cutoffs of serum anti-Müllerian hormone: low (≤ 4.

Background: One potential cause of implantation failure is abnormal endometrial receptivity, and how to objectively evaluate endometrial receptivity has been a matter of great concern. Endometrial receptivity analysis (ERA), a next-generation sequencing-based test that assesses endometrial gene expression, may be valuable in predicting endometrial receptivity, but whether ERA improves pregnancy outcomes in patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is currently controversial. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of ERA on pregnancy outcomes in patients with RIF.

The combined impact of concurrent primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) on pregnancy outcomes remains underreported. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 115 pregnant patients diagnosed with pSS and delivering at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from January 2009 to July 2023. The effects of AITD on maternal and neonatal outcomes were examined and compared to a control group without AITD.

Background: Our previous study has identified an association of a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the miR-423 gene with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). The presence of additional RSA-linked SNPs in the miR-423 gene remains unclear.
Methods: We evaluated polymorphisms in the coding region of miR-423 in Han Chinese women with unexplained RSA (URSA).
