The microviscosity indexes of cell membranes of erythrocytes, neutrophils, and lymphocytes were estimated in children with acute respiratory diseases with and without infectious toxicosis. The erythrocyte microviscosity most completely reflects the degree of toxicosis. The ratio of membrane microviscosity indexes of neutrophils to that of lymphocytes demonstrates the specific response of blood cells to infectious toxic exposure.

"Lipid raft aging" in nerve cells represents an early event in the development of aging-related neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. Lipid rafts are key elements in synaptic plasticity, and their modification with aging alters interactions and distribution of signaling molecules, such as glutamate receptors and ion channels involved in memory formation, eventually leading to cognitive decline. In the present study, we have analyzed, in vivo, the effects of dietary supplementation of n-3 LCPUFA on the lipid structure, membrane microviscosity, domain organization, and partitioning of ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors in hippocampal lipid raffs in female mice.

To understand the encapsulation difference and stability mechanism of nanoliposomes (NLPs) loaded with different kinds and loads of liposoluble vitamins (LSV, including VA, VD, VE, and VK), the physicochemical stability during three-months storage and bilayer membrane properties of LSV-NLPs were evaluated. The results suggested that VD and VE were not suitable for high-load (≥30 wt%) encapsulation, but the stability of other LSV-NLPs was excellent during storage. Their particle size was less than 100 nm, the polydispersity index was less than 0.

The genus Rhodococcus includes polymorphic non-spore-forming gram-positive bacteria belonging to the class Actinobacteria. Together with Mycobacterium and Corynebacterium, Rhodococcus belongs to the Mycolata group. Due to their relatively high growth rate and ability to form biof ilms, Rhodococcus are a convenient model for studying the effect of biologically active compounds on pathogenic Mycolata.

Abnormalities in physical properties of the cell membranes may strongly be linked to hypertension. Recent evidence indicates that resistin may actively participate in the pathophysiology of insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and other circulatory disorders. The present study was undertaken to investigate the possible relationships among plasma resistin, oxidative stress and membrane fluidity (a reciprocal value of membrane microviscosity) in hypertension.
