The issue of parathyroid autotransplantation in oncologic thyroid surgery is discussed controversially. In a series of 15 patients who underwent bilateral modified radical neck dissection for thyroid malignancy, parathyroid autotransplantation was carried out. Six months after surgery only one patient was hypoparathyroid, requiring permanent medication, thus autotransplantation is a safe procedure for the prevention of accidental hypoparathyroidism.

Importance: Nelonemdaz selectively antagonizes the 2B subunit of the N-methyl-d-aspartate glutamate receptor and scavenges free radical species.

Objective: To evaluate whether nelonemdaz enhances the clinical outcomes of patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing emergent reperfusion therapy.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter double-blind placebo-controlled randomized phase 3 trial (December 25, 2021, to June 30, 2023, in South Korea) recruited patients with acute ischemic stroke who met the following criteria: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score greater than or equal to 8, Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography score greater than or equal to 4, and endovascular thrombectomy within 12 hours after stroke onset.

8-OHdG and Nrf2 Protein are Expressed Consistently in Various T Stages of Invasive Breast Carcinoma.

Asian Pac J Cancer Prev

January 2025

Department of Anatomic Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia.

Objective: Oxidative stress prompts breast cancer cells to adapt by raising the lethal threshold and enhancing the antioxidant mechanism, thereby enabling survival and continuous proliferation that facilitates tumor progression. Nrf2 and 8-OHdG are indicative of oxidative stress activity and impact the progression of breast cancer. We aimed to analyze the expression of Nrf2 and 8-OHdG in various T stages of breast cancer in our hospital.

Stabilization of blackberry extract by interaction with bovine sodium caseinate in the presence of tara gum.

J Sci Food Agric

January 2025

Laboratorio de Investigación, Desarrollo y Evaluación de Alimentos (LIDEA), Facultad de Ciencias Bioquímicas y Farmacéuticas, Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR), Santa Fe, Argentina.

Background: The antioxidant capacity of anthocyanins (AC) rapidly degrades during storage, highlighting the need for their stabilization. The conformational properties and high proline content of sodium caseinate (NaCAS), combined with the formation of NaCAS microgels in the presence of tara gum (TG) and acid gelation, suggest its potential as an effective stabilizing or encapsulating agent of AC.

Results: Spectrofluorimetric results suggest the formation of a complex between NaCAS and AC.

As fundamental structural scaffolds in numerous natural products and pharmaceutical molecules, the construction of cyclohexenone architectures has remained a pivotal focus in organic chemistry. However, established strategies to synthesize cyclohexenone derivatives Dowd-Beckwith ring-expansion reaction invariably involve the use of transition metals and photoirradiation. Herein, we present a novel transition-metal- and photoirradiation-free pathway to access such structures from α-iodomethyl β-keto esters with electron-rich arenediazonium salts as inexpensive radical initiators and oxidants under mild reaction conditions.

HER2 positive primary breast squamous cell carcinoma with good prognosis: a case report.

AME Case Rep

November 2024

Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis, Shijiazhuang Pingan Hospital, Hebei Medical University, Shijiazhuang, China.

Background: Primary breast squamous cell carcinoma (PBSCC) is a unique histopathological type of breast cancer. The majority of current case reports of PBSCC are triple-negative tumors with poor prognosis. Due to its heterogeneous clinical course, no unified management is achieved.
