Background Aims: SBP leads to high rates acute kidney injury (AKI) -hepatorenal syndrome and mortality. Population-based studies on contemporary SBP epidemiology are needed to inform care. In a large, national cohort of patients diagnosed with SBP and confirmed by ascitic fluid criteria, we characterized ascitic fluid characteristics, in-hospital and 12-month mortality, AKI, and recurrent SBP.

Background: Efforts to improve adherence to quality measures in cirrhosis care are encouraged by AASLD to improve clinical outcomes.
Methods: We prospectively evaluated two best practice advisory (BPA) interventions to alert clinicians caring for patients with cirrhosis and acute variceal hemorrhage (AVH) or spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP).
Results: Our BPAs increased utilization.

Introduction: Stercoral colitis is a rare but serious diagnosis which is associated with a high rate of morbidity.
Objective: This review highlights the pearls and pitfalls of stercoral colitis, including presentation, diagnosis, and emergency department (ED) management based on the available evidence.
Discussion: Stercoral colitis is an uncommon inflammatory condition of the distal large bowel and rectum resulting from accumulation of impacted stool and is associated with several complications including bowel ulceration, ischemia, perforation, peritonitis, and sepsis.

Background: Nursing sensitive indicators are a way of measuring aspects of patient care that are most affected by the actions of the nurse. Despite the existence of nursing sensitive indicators, these are largely not suitable to measure peritoneal dialysis nursing practice.
Objective: This project aimed to co-develop a set of peritoneal dialysis nursing-sensitive indicators.

Background: Intraoperative and postoperative biliary injuries remain significant complications of laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE). Indocyanine green (ICG) has been shown to significantly reduce injuries caused by intraoperative operational errors. We found that the J-tube can reduce postoperative strictures and injuries to the common bile duct.
