In the present study, substance P receptor binding was localized in the dorsal column nuclei (DCN) of the rat, cat, monkey, and human. Bolton-Hunter-labeled [125I]substance P binding was most concentrated in the cell nests of the core region, but was present throughout the DCN of each species. The distribution of substance P receptors may reconcile apparent mismatches between the widespread responsiveness of DCN neurons to substance P and the restricted distribution of substance P containing afferents.

The use of natural products for cancer treatment has a lengthy history. The safety and multifunctionality of naturally occurring substances have rendered them appropriate for cancer treatment. Curcumin influences multiple molecular pathways and is advantageous for treating both hematological and solid tumors.

Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury occurs under various surgical or disease conditions, where tissue hypoxia followed by reoxygenation results in the production of oxygen radicals and inflammatory mediators. These substances can target the endothelial barrier, leading to microvascular leakage. In this study, we induced intestinal I/R injury in mice by occluding the superior mesenteric artery, followed by removing the clamp to resume blood circulation.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are considered an international problem due to their persistence in the environment, need to be properly treated in the end. In the destruction method by incineration, basic data are required to quantify the destruction characteristics of the target substance and the temperature-dependent behavior of its by-products. In this study, we conducted incineration tests targeting perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctadecanoic acid (PFOcDA).

To determine whether cyber dating abuse and the severity of alcohol and other drug use are predictors of in-person dating violence in Mexican adolescents. Predictive, cross-sectional study, with a non-probabilistic sample of 883 students, enrolled in schools distributed throughout Mexico. Verbal and psychological violence due to victimization is the main form of in-person dating violence, albeit in a higher proportion by girls, whereas physical violence shows a bidirectional pattern between both sexes.

Acoustically probing biological tissues with light or sound, photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging can provide anatomical, functional, and/or molecular information at depths far beyond the optical diffusion limit. However, most photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging systems rely on linear-array transducers with elevational focusing and are limited to two-dimensional imaging with anisotropic resolutions. Here, we present three-dimensional diffractive acoustic tomography (3D-DAT), which uses an off-the-shelf linear-array transducer with single-slit acoustic diffraction.
