Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV), a Biosafety level 4 pathogen transmitted by ticks, causes severe haemorrhagic diseases in humans but remains clinically silent in animals. Over the past forty years, Nigeria lacks comprehensive genetic data on CCHFV in livestock and ticks. This study aimed to identify and characterize CCHFV strains in cattle and their Hyalomma ticks, the primary vector, in Kwara State, Nigeria.

Background And Aims: A recent study reported that Oropouche virus (OROV) infection may play a role in the etiology of Guillain-Barré syndrome. We aimed to identify the neurological performance, disease-modifying therapies, and clinical outcomes related to patients with Oropouche-associated Guillain-Barré syndrome admitted to the critical care unit.

Methods: This was an analysis of 210 patients diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome and suspicion of Oropouche viral infection admitted to the critical care units from June 2024 to September 2024 using the national administrative healthcare data.

Background: Bacterial lower respiratory tract infection, particularly ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in children who require mechanical ventilation (MV). Microbiologic diagnosis has relied on bacterial culture, but reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with bacterial targets is now available for clinical use. We compared the diagnostic performance of tracheal aspirate (TA) multiplex RT-PCR to culture in children requiring MV with suspected lower respiratory tract infection.

GV1001, hTERT Peptide Fragment, Prevents Doxorubicin-Induced Endothelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition in Human Endothelial Cells and Atherosclerosis in Mice.

Doxorubicin is a highly effective anticancer agent, but its clinical use is restricted by severe side effects, including atherosclerosis and cardiomyopathy. These complications are partly attributed to doxorubicin's ability to induce endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) in vascular endothelial cells, a critical process in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis and cardiomyopathy. GV1001, a multifunctional peptide with anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antioxidant, and anti-Alzheimer's properties, has demonstrated inhibition of EndMT.

Background: Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) zinc finger protein 667-antisense RNA 1 () is closely related to the advancement of a variety of cancers, but its functional role in colorectal cancer remains unclear. This study was designed to explore the function and molecular mechanisms of lncRNA in colorectal cancer.

Methods: Reverse transcriptase real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was used for the detection of and proline-rich nuclear receptor co-activator protein 2 () expression level.
