Published: January 1998

In the study there was estimated maternal (Fm) and cord blood (Fc) fructosamine levels in 151 diabetic (58 PGDM and 93 GDM) and 100 control subjects on the day of delivery. It was found that Fm and Fc levels in PGDM and GDM groups were significantly higher than in the control group. It was also found the significantly positive correlation between Fm and Fc levels in all study groups. It leads to the conclusion that pregnant diabetic women and their fetuses were hyperglycemic during the last 2 weeks of pregnancy. Our results indicate that on the basis of maternal fructosamine levels it is possible to apply on indirect estimation of metabolic status of the fetus.

We aim to evaluate the dynamics of glycemic status and markers of carbohydrate metabolism 12 months after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and their relationship with the one-year prognosis. The analysis of outcomes of 653 patients during 1 year after coronary artery bypass grafting is presented. In those patients who visited the study center after 1 year, markers of carbohydrate metabolism (glucose, glycated hemoglobin, fructosamine, 1.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most widespread chronic diseases globally, with its prevalence expected to rise significantly in the years ahead. Previous studies on risk stratification for T2DM identify certain biomarkers, including glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), oral glucose tolerance testing (OGTT), fructosamine, and glycated albumin, as key indicators for predicting the onset and progression of T2DM. However, these traditional markers have been shown to lack sensitivity and specificity and their results are difficult to analyze due to non-standardized interpretation criteria, posing significant challenges to an accurate and definitive diagnosis.

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ecologia, Conservação e Manejo da Vida Silvestre, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

The Atlantic Forest broad-snouted caiman (Caiman latirostris) inhabits regions within one of the world's most ecologically diverse ecosystems, yet few studies have explored the relationship between body condition, blood biochemistry, and environmental factors in the wild. Our study investigated the effects of sex, ontogeny, habitat, and environmental variables on the body condition and blood biochemistry of free-ranging caimans from the state of Alagoas, Northeast Brazil. From 2020 to 2022, we captured 75 caimans across three sites in different seasons.

: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are major global health concerns, and they often go undetected. Periodontitis shares risk factors and is associated with both conditions. Assessing MetS risk factors among dental patients, especially those with periodontitis, may contribute to early detection and prompt treatment.
