Microtubule disassembly is commonly believed to be a process of endwise tubulin dimer release. The present study demonstrates by video interference contrast microscopy that Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) caused microtubule disassembly in vitro by both endwise shortening and fragmentation. In contrast, the microtubules were only shortened from their ends in the presence of DNA, used as another example of a macromolecular microtubule effector. LPS-caused microtubule fragmentation was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. Because of its ability to induce both fragmentation and endwise shortening, LPS, which is involved in sepsis pathogenesis, has to be regarded as a highly active microtubule-destabilizing agent.

Developmental language disorder (DLD) is often associated with deficits in executive functions (EFs). One common area of language difficulty in DLD is the development of vocabulary knowledge and it has been suggested that EF abilities may be linked to this difficulty. However, an explanation for this relationship remains unclear.

Background: Cross-sectional studies have reported neurocognitive performance deficits in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), particularly on tasks assessing response inhibition and proactive control over stimulus-driven behaviors (task control). However, it is not clear whether these deficits represent trait-like markers of OCD or are state-dependent.
Methods: This study examined performance on two neurocognitive tasks in OCD patients (N = 26) before and after cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and matched healthy controls (HCs, N = 19).

Background: With the widespread use of lumbar pedicle screws for internal fixation, the morphology of the screws and the surrounding tissues should be evaluated. The metal artifact reduction (MAR) technique can reduce the artifacts caused by pedicle screws, improve the quality of computed tomography (CT) images after pedicle fixation, and provide more imaging information to the clinic.
Purpose: To explore whether the MAR+ method, a projection-based algorithm for correcting metal artifacts through multiple iterative operations, can reduce metal artifacts and have an impact on the structure of the surrounding metal.

Spectral Imaging techniques such as Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) and Raman Spectroscopy (RS) enable the localized acquisition of spectral data, providing insights into the presence, quantity, and spatial distribution of chemical elements or molecules within a sample. This significantly expands the accessible information compared to conventional imaging approaches such as machine vision. However, despite its potential, spectral imaging also faces specific challenges depending on the limitations of the spectroscopy technique used, such as signal saturation, matrix interferences, fluorescence, or background emission.

Predicting the location of moving objects in noisy environments is essential to everyday behavior, like when participating in traffic. Although many objects provide multisensory information, it remains unknown how humans use multisensory information to localize moving objects, and how this depends on expected sensory interference (e.g.
