The clinical features of 57 melanomas of the lower extremity occurring in native Puerto Ricans were studied. Whereas most melanomas of the lower extremity among Caucasians occur above the ankle, the group studied showed a predilection for the foot, particularly in the minimally pigmented zones (sole, heel, and nail bed), a distribution similar to that reported in black patients. The possibility that pigment-deficient areas may represent the target organ for sunligh-induced melanomas in Negroes and dark-skinned subjects is discussed.

Glutamate-rich WD40 repeat containing 1 (GRWD1) is a novel oncogene/oncoprotein that downregulates the p53 tumor suppressor protein through several mechanisms. One important mechanism involves binding of GRWD1 to RPL11, which competitively inhibits the RPL11-MDM2 interaction and releases RPL11-mediated suppression of MDM2 ubiquitin ligase activity toward p53. Here, we mined the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) database to gain in-depth insight into the clinical relevance of GRWD1.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that is usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40. Changes in the immune system also observed in cancer may suggest a higher prevalence of cancer in the MS patient population. In recent years, many highly effective immunosuppressive drugs have been introduced into disease-modifying therapy (DMT) which may be associated with a higher risk of cancer development in patients with MS.

Exercise and mindfulness-based interventions have growing evidence for managing fatigue and comorbid symptoms; however, packaging them in a cohesive digital way for patients undergoing cancer treatment has not been evaluated. We conducted a randomized controlled trial to assess the impact of a 12 week digital integrative medicine program, Integrative Medicine at Home (IM@Home), versus enhanced usual care on fatigue severity (primary outcome), comorbid symptoms and acute healthcare utilization (secondary outcomes), in 200 patients with solid tumors experiencing fatigue during treatment. Fatigue severity decreased more in IM@Home than in the control (1.

Introduction: The management of malignant melanomas often involves performing a sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) aided by imaging with lymphoscintigraphy. Whether lymphoscintigraphy should be performed on the same day as the SLNB operation (SD) or the day before (DB) surgery remains debated. This study aims to summarise existing evidence regarding the impact of the relative timings of lymphoscintigraphy and SLNB on clinical outcomes in melanoma.
