We report a case of adult T-cell leukaemia/lymphoma (ATLL) with prurigo as a prodromal skin manifestation. The patient was a 52-year-old woman with a 2-year history of a fluctuating skin condition consisting of pruritic papules and pigmentation on her lower legs and right buttock. Prurigo was diagnosed at her first visit in October 1995, and she was found to be seropositive for human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1). Two years later, the skin lesions had spread over the patient's forearms and dorsa of the hands, and abnormal lymphoid cells had appeared in her peripheral blood. Southern blot analysis revealed monoclonal integration of HTLV-1 provirus in the peripheral blood, but not in a skin lesion. Based on these results, a diagnosis of overt ATLL of the smouldering type was made. The findings in this case indicate that in healthy HTLV-1 seropositive carriers, prurigo requires careful follow-up as a cutaneous prodrome of ATLL.

Background: Patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection are characterized by impaired immune response that fails to eliminate HBV. Immune checkpoint molecules (ICMs) control the amplitude of the activation and function of immune cells, which makes them the key regulators of immune response.
Methods: We performed a multiparametric flow cytometry analysis of ICMs and determined their expression on intrahepatic lymphocyte subsets in untreated and treated patients with HBV in comparison with non-pathological liver tissue.

Autoimmune liver diseases (AILD) involve dysregulated CD4 T cell responses against liver self-antigens, but how these autoreactive T cells relate to liver tissue pathology remains unclear. Here we perform single-cell transcriptomic and T cell receptor analyses of circulating, self-antigen-specific CD4 T cells from patients with AILD and identify a subset of liver-autoreactive CD4 T cells with a distinct B-helper transcriptional profile characterized by PD-1, TIGIT and HLA-DR expression. These cells share clonal relationships with expanded intrahepatic T cells and exhibit transcriptional signatures overlapping with tissue-resident T cells in chronically inflamed environments.

Introduction: Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) remains a major complication of allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT), affecting 30-70% of patients (representing 800 new patients per year in the UK). The risk is higher in patients undergoing unrelated allo-SCT. About 1 in 10 patients die as a result of GvHD or through complications of its treatment.

Anaemia and thrombocytopenia are blood-related irregularities linked to an increased likelihood of disease progression, leading to death in people living with human immunodeficiency virus 1 (PLHIV). Severe clinical conditions associated with human immunodeficiency 1 (HIV-1) infection may be related to blood irregularities among PLHIV. The study aimed to examine the factors correlated with blood irregularities among PLHIV receiving antiretroviral treatment in West Papua.

Background: Stroke remains a leading cause of mortality and disability among adults. Given the restricted therapeutic window for intravascular interventions and neuroprotection during the acute phase, there has been a growing focus on tissue repair and functional recovery in the subacute and chronic phases after stroke. The pro-inflammatory microglial polarization occurs in subacute and chronic phases after stroke and may represent therapeutic targets for stroke recovery.
