The results of treatment of 23 patients with pefloxacin, administered because of the infectional complications in surgery development (1 group), and of 11 patients --for the infection development prophylaxis (2 group) were discussed. In the first group the recovery was noted in 83.3%, and significant improvement of condition--in 16.7% of patients. In the second group the infectional complications in postoperative period were absent.

Background: We used a population-based database to: (1) compare clinical and economic outcomes between minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and open surgery (OS) for colectomy; and (2) evaluate contemporary trends in MIS rates.
Methods: Retrospective Premier Healthcare Database review of patients undergoing elective inpatient colectomy between January 1, 2010 and September 30, 2017 (first = index admission). Patients were classified into MIS (laparoscopic/robotic) or OS groups, and by left or right colectomy.

Introduction: Descending Necrotizing Mediastinitis (DNM) is the fatal form of mediastinitis and mostly develops as a complication of peritonsillar abscesses or dental-odontogenic infections. The aim of this study is to evaluate clinical and surgical feature of the patients with DNM who were managed in our clinic.
Methodology: We retrospectively evaluated 13 consecutive patients with the diagnosis of DNM between February 2005 and February 2018.

Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is a severe complication in immunosuppressed patients. Surgical resection can be curative in certain patients after antifungal treatment. The authors consider, that in combined trauma of pelvis and its organs it is necessary to undertake maximally possible reanimational-surgical measures during 12-72 hours after trauma occurrence, depending on its severity, character of injury of pelvic organs and bones. External fixation is the method of choice in unstable fracture of pelvic bones in early period of traumatic disease.

Want of appetite and los of weight are direct symptoms of patients with consumptive infectional diseases (AIDS, TBC) as well as cancer or geriatric patients.
