Assessment of chronic ankle instability: are functional scores relevant enough?

Orthop Traumatol Surg Res

January 2025

Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Department, Military Hospital of Sainte-Anne, 2 bd Sainte-Anne, BP 600, 83800 Toulon, France.

Introduction: A poorly treated acute ankle sprain can rapidly progress to chronic instability, with varying degrees of disability secondary to weakness of the ankle stabilizers. The aim of our study was to evaluate functional scores and physical tests in the assessment of eversion and proprioception deficits after non-surgical treatment of chronic ankle instability. Our hypothesis was that these functional scores and physical tests are suitable and sufficient for assessing the functional aspect of an unstable ankle.

Introduction: In-stent restenosis remains a significant challenge in coronary artery interventions. This study aims to explore the relationship between exercise intensity and stent design, focusing on the coupled response of the stent structure and hemodynamics at different exercise intensities.

Methods: A coupled balloon-stent-plaque-artery model and a fluid domain model reflecting structural deformation were developed to investigate the interaction between coronary stents and stenotic vessels, as well as their impact on hemodynamics.

Measurement of neutron spectra in spent fuel storage.

Appl Radiat Isot

December 2024

Department of Neutron Physics, Research Centre Řež, Hlavní 130, 250 68, Řež, Czech Republic. Electronic address:

The neutron spectrum was measured at two locations in the spent fuel storage facility of the Temelín nuclear power plant. The measurement had two primary objectives: to map the neutron -γ field by quantifying the ambient dose equivalent H∗(10) and to identify methods that could improve the quality of the adjusted neutron spectrum using a Bonner Sphere Spectrometer (BSS). Three spectrometers were used: a BSS and two proton recoil spectrometers.

Effect of an aperture in atomic gravimetry.

J Opt Soc Am A Opt Image Sci Vis

May 2024

There is a continuous interest in shrinking the dimensions of portable atomic gravimeters. This inevitably ends up truncating the Gaussian wings of the excitation laser beams whose effect has not been properly quantified yet. The diffraction pattern created from this aperture creates ripples in the wavefront in both the phase and the intensity.

The effects of a 12-week gait retraining program on the adaptation of the medial gastrocnemius (MG) and muscle-tendon unit (MTU) were investigated. 26 runners with a rearfoot strike pattern (RFS) were randomly assigned to one of two groups: gait retraining (GR) or control group (CON). MG ultrasound images, marker positions, and ground reaction forces (GRF) were collected twice during 9 km/h of treadmill running before and after the intervention.
