Laboratory of Central Neuropeptides in the Regulation of Water Balance and Cardiovascular Functions, College de France, CIRB, INSERM U1050/CNRS UMR7241, 75005 Paris, France; Université Paris Saclay, CEA, Département Médicaments et Technologies pour la Santé (DMTS), SIMoS, 91191 Gif-sur-Yvette, France. Electronic address:

Background: To protect patients after myocardial infarction (MI) and preserve cardiac function, the development of new therapeutics remains an important issue. Apelin, a neuro-vasoactive peptide, increases aqueous diuresis and cardiac contractility while reducing vascular resistance. However, its in vivo half-life is very short.

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a glycoprotein widely used as a tumor marker. In this work, a colorimetric lateral flow immunosensor is developed for rapid and low-cost quantification of CEA in human blood serum. The immunosensor consists of a glass fiber sample/conjugation pad, a nitrocellulose detection pad and a cellulose absorption pad.

New insights into the diagnostic characteristics and clinical application of serum biomarkers for lung cancer, and human epididymis protein 4 as a new biomarker?

Neoplasma

May 2022

Division of In Vitro Diagnostics, Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Corporation, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

The value of serum tumor biomarkers used for lung cancer diagnosis is still controversial in clinical practice. This study aimed to further dissect and evaluate the clinical value of serum progastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin-19 fragment (CYFRA21-1) together with a potential new biomarker, the human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) for lung cancer diagnosis, in a large cohort of a Chinese population. Ostensibly healthy individuals, as well as those with benign non-cancerous diseases, benign tumors, lung cancers, and other types of malignancies, were enrolled in the study.

Prostaglandin E-Major Urinary Metabolite (PGE-MUM) as a Tumor Marker for Lung Adenocarcinoma.

Cancers (Basel)

June 2019

Division of Respiratory diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, Jikei University, Tokyo 105-8471, Japan.

: Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is metabolized to prostaglandin E-major urinary metabolite (PGE-MUM). Enhanced cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression demonstrated in lung adenocarcinoma indicates increased PGE-MUM levels in patients with lung adenocarcinoma. : We aimed to elucidate the clinical usefulness of measuring PGE-MUM as an indicator of tumor burden in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.

Diagnostic and prognostic value of serum IL-23 in colorectal cancer.

Arab J Gastroenterol

June 2019

Clinical Pathology, Health Radiation Research Department, National Center for Radiation Research and Technology, Atomic Energy Authority, Cairo, Egypt.

Background And Study Aims: Cytokines play a pivotal role in the induction of host immune responses against tumour growth and are involved in the development and progression of colorectal cancer in humans. The role of IL-23 in colorectal cancer is still unclear. Thus, we aimed to determine IL-23 levels in the development and progression of colorectal (CRC) cancer.
