The new Maternity Protection Act (MuSchG) enacted in 2018, is intended to enable pregnant employees to carry out their work, to protect the pregnant employee and the child and to counteract discrimination. Nevertheless, a ban on surgical activities or even a ban on employment is often issued, although the law first requires the workplace to be reorganized to enable the pregnant employee to continue working. In many cases, such bans are issued without the legally required risk assessment, which constitutes prohibited discrimination.

Background: This two-stage individual patient data meta-analysis (IPD-MA) compared the efficacy of a shorter duration (≤ 2 days) of vasoactive (VA) drug therapy to standard duration (3-5 days) after acute variceal bleeding (AVB) in patients with liver cirrhosis.
Patients And Methods: Randomized clinical trials on patients with cirrhosis and AVB undergoing endoscopic band ligation which compared a short duration versus the standard duration of VA therapy were included. The primary outcome was 5-day rebleeding rate.

Internalizing and externalizing psychiatric disorders among children are common and debilitating, affecting family interactions, learning and peer relations. The aim of the present quasi-randomised pilot-study was to investigate preliminary effects of a mentalization-based time-limited treatment (MBT-C) for children with mixed psychiatric disorders. The trial comprised 17 children, aged 4-11 with mixed disorders, and their parents, admitted to an outpatient psychotherapy clinic.

Although some variations in growth are normal, deviation from normal growth is often the first symptom of chronic disease in children. Studies on pain in preterm infants have usually been confined to observations of painful procedures, and information from extremely preterm infants is limited. Using registry data from a Swedish nationwide cohort, this study explored the epidemiology of pain in very preterm infants, its causes, assessments, and treatment strategies. We included liveborn infants <32 weeks' gestational age (GA) discharged between January 2020 and June 2024.
