This investigation was concerned with the resorption of the posterior mandibular residual ridge in patients wearing mandibular overdentures supported by either parallel-sided bars (rigid joint) or oval straight bars (resilient joint) on two activated implants. Rotational tomographs were taken shortly after implant placement and up to 8 years later. Using proportional measurement, the area of residual ridge was measured in bilateral posterior areas. Patients rehabilitated with implant-stabilized mandibular overdentures demonstrated posterior mandibular residual ridge resorption at low rates, which were not significantly influenced by the design of the prefabricated bar.

Anthropogenic inputs of nitrogen and phosphorus to lakes have increased worldwide, causing phytoplankton chlorophyll concentrations to increase at many sites, with negative implications for biodiversity and human usage of lake resources. However, the conversion of nutrients to chlorophyll varies among lakes, hindering effective management actions to improve water quality. Here, using a rich global dataset, we explore how the relationship between chlorophyll-a (Chla) and nitrogen and phosphorus and inferred nutrient limitation is modified by climate, catchment, hydrology and lake characteristics.

Certepetide (aka LSTA1 and CEND-1) is a novel cyclic tumor-targeting internalizing arginyl glycylaspartic acid peptide being developed to treat solid tumors. Certepetide is designed to overcome existing challenges in treating solid tumors by delivering co-administered anticancer drugs into the tumor while selectively depleting immunosuppressive T cells, enhancing cytotoxic T cells in the tumor microenvironment, and inhibiting the metastatic cascade. A population pharmacokinetic (PK) analysis was conducted to characterize the concentration-time profile of patients with metastatic exocrine pancreatic cancer receiving certepetide in combination with nab-paclitaxel and gemcitabine, and to investigate the effects of clinically relevant covariates on PK parameters.

Background: Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a self-limiting benign disease with slow progression in which the normal bone is replaced by dysplastic fibrous tissue. The craniofacial skeleton is one of the most commonly affected areas, and it can create unique challenges in dental implant therapy. This case aims to report an unusual presentation of FD localized in the alveolar crest bone of the edentulous site, causing special obstacles to implant placement, and provide a diagnostic and treatment process that may be referenced.
