Dose-response curves for the effect of continuous infusion of histamine on gastric acid secretion were obtained in 10 patients with iron deficiency anemia due to hookworm infection. Each patient was studied with 4 doses (40, 60, 80 and 100 mug/kg/h) of histamine acid phosphate administered for 3 h, on separate days, in random fashion. The acid output increased with the dose of histamine, the maximal acid output was reached in all patients at the dose of 100 mug/kg/h. The dose of histamine when calculated according to body weight correlated well with the maximal acid output; the absolute dose of histamine had no correlation with the maximal acid response. The dose-response curve of stimulated acid output in anemia patients was much flatter than in control patients.

Expression of prokineticin 2 (PK2) mRNA in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), also knowns as the brain's clock, exhibits circadian oscillations with peak levels midday, zeitgeber time (ZT) 4, and almost undetectable levels during night. This circadian expression profile has substantially contributed to the suggested role of PK2 as an SCN output molecule involved in transmitting circadian rhythm of behavior and physiology. Due to unreliable specificity of PK2 antibodies, the 81 amino acid protein has primarily been studied at the mRNA level and correlation between circadian oscillating mRNAs and protein products are infrequent.

The current research focused on extraction optimization of bioactive compounds from Strychnos potatorum seeds (SPs) using an eco-friendly glycerol-sodium acetate based deep eutectic solvent (DES). The optimization was accomplished using response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural networking (ANN). The independent variables included shaking time (A), temperature (B), and solvent-to-feed ratio (C), and the responses were the extraction yield, total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), antioxidant activity (DPPH), and antidiabetic activity (α-amylase inhibitory activity).

We report here the use of antibody-DNA conjugates (Ab-DNA) to activate the collateral cleavage activity of the CRISPR-Cas12a enzyme. Our findings demonstrate that Ab-DNA conjugates effectively trigger the collateral cleavage activity of CRISPR-Cas12a, enabling the transduction of antibody-mediated recognition events into fluorescence outputs. We developed two different immunoassays using an Ab-DNA as activator of Cas12a: the CRISPR-based immunosensing assay (CIA) for detecting SARS-CoV-2 spike S protein, which shows superior sensitivity compared with the traditional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the CRISPR-based immunomagnetic assay (CIMA).

Elevated glucagon concentrations have been reported in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). A critical role for α cell-intrinsic mechanisms in regulating glucagon secretion was previously established through genetic manipulation of the glycolytic enzyme glucokinase (GCK) in mice. Genetic variation at the glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 2 () locus, encoding an enzyme that opposes GCK, has been reproducibly associated with fasting blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c.
