In the framework of malformations that concerns the craniofacial area, the orbit is often involved because it represents the border structure between the neurocranium and the splanchnocranium. In these malformations it is very easy to find hypertelorism. Tessier classified clefts rising from the anterior skullbase and involving the maxilla and the alveolar process, as medial or 0 = 14 clefts. We report on a 2-year-old patient, treated with cranial decompression at an early age, suffering from this kind of malformation. To correct it, the surgical technique of facial bipartition was used. This technique, used for the first time by Tessier and then modified by Stricker and colleagues, allows the simultaneous correction of the orbits and maxilla. It is very important to make a correct diagnosis, to plan for surgery carefully for patients suffering from this kind of pathology, and to prescribe the most effective therapy. A computerized analysis system, based on the study of teleradiographic images and on three-dimensional computed tomography, to quantify the extent of the malformation and to define surgical planning was developed.

This review examines the emerging applications of machine learning (ML) and radiomics in the diagnosis and prediction of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders, addressing a significant challenge in obstetric care. It highlights recent advancements in ML algorithms and radiomic techniques that utilize medical imaging modalities like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound for effective classification and risk stratification of PAS. The review discusses the efficacy of various deep learning models, such as nnU-Net and DenseNet-PAS, which have demonstrated superior performance over traditional diagnostic methods through high AUC scores.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical utility of improved machine learning models in predicting poor prognosis following endovascular intervention for intracranial aneurysms and to develop a corresponding visualization system.
Methods: A total of 303 patients with intracranial aneurysms treated with endovascular intervention at four hospitals (FuShun County Zigong City People's Hospital, Nanchong Central Hospital, The Third People's Hospital of Yibin, The Sixth People's Hospital of Yibin) from January 2022 to September 2023 were selected. These patients were divided into a good prognosis group ( = 207) and a poor prognosis group ( = 96).

Necrotising soft tissue infections (NSTIs) are one of the most challenging and severe forms of infections. The prognosis requires accurate and aggressive diagnosis and management. In this case, we present an unexplained case of concurrence of TE events following BKA for the surgical management of NSTI.

Background: While previous literature has shown that resident involvement increases operative time, the influence of resident involvement on operative time is generally not considered in current methods of case time predictions or operating room planning. Furthermore, evidence of prolonged case times based on the level of the assisting resident is yet scarce. We hypothesized that operative time would increase with the post-graduate year of assisting residents as they gain more autonomy in the operating room.

Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare form of non-Hodgkin T-cell lymphoma diagnosed in patients with a history of breast implants. Most patients develop a periprosthetic effusion at early stages of disease while less common presentations include a palpable mass, severe capsular contracture, lymphadenopathy, or cutaneous erythema. Due to the complex nature of this disease, a multidisciplinary approach is necessary for optimal management, particularly in locally advanced disease or inoperable patients.
