[Use of personal computers in forensic medicine facilities].

Soud Lek

Soudnĕ-lékarské oddĕlení nemocnice, Ce: ké Budĕjovice.

Published: August 1995

The authors present a brief account of possibilities to use computers, type PC, in departments of forensic medicine and discuss basic technical and programme equipment. In the author's opinion the basic reason for using computers is to create an extensive database of post-mortem findings which would make it possible to process them on a large scale and use them for research and prevention. Introduction of computers depends on the management of the department and it is necessary to persuade workers-future users of computers-of the advantages associated with their use.

The mechanism of serum cell-free DNA release in postmortem subjects and novel markers to estimate the postmortem intervals.

J Forensic Leg Med

January 2025

Department of Legal Medicine, Shimane University Faculty of Medicine, 89-1 Enya, Izumo, Shimane, 693-8501, Japan. Electronic address:

Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is DNA released from dying cells into the serum. The aim of the present study is to elucidate the mechanism of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) release in postmortem subjects by assaying Cytokeratin 18 (M30 and M65), cyclophilin A (CyPA), and myeloperoxidase (MPO) levels and to evaluate whether these levels are useful as markers for estimating postmortem intervals. Serum (n = 54) was sampled from postmortem autopsied Japanese subjects.
