We describe six patients with non-insulin dependent (Type 2) diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) and thermal foot injury admitted to the Burn Centre in Rotterdam. They were all male with a mean age of 56.8 (range 47-63) years. The median patients' delay before admission was 27 (range 1-56) days. Five patients needed amputation. Healing of the wounds took a mean period of 9.5 (range 2-27) months. In two patients healing of the wounds took more than 1 year; these two patients also had recurrent foot burns. Neurological evaluation in four patients confirmed severe polyneuropathy and severe loss of heat pain, warmth, and cold sensation.

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a common and severe complication of diabetes mellitus, the etiology of which remains insufficiently understood, particularly regarding the involvement of extracellular vesicles (EVs). In this study, nanoflow cytometry to detect EVs in DFU skin tissues is used and found a significant increase in the Translocase of Outer Mitochondrial Membrane 20 (TOM20) mitochondrial-derived vesicles (MDVs). The role of MDVs in DFU is yet to be reported.

: We treated deep partial-thickness burns of the hands and feet in four cases using a combination of NexoBrid and ReCell autologous cell regeneration techniques, without conventional split-thickness skin graft, with good results following debridement of the eschar. : We report cases of patients treated with a combination of the NexoBrid and ReCell techniques between 1 August 2023 and 31 July 2024. The degree of debridement and the time to complete wound closure were evaluated.

Cleft foot is a rare congenital anomaly (syndromic/isolated). Although there have been published reports about this anomaly, none has so far described standardized treatment guidelines. In this case report, we describe the details of operative management of an isolated cleft foot in an 8-year-old girl with a brief review of literature, keeping in mind the aims of the treatment, governed by the local culture and preferred footwear design in the Indian scenario.
